Smoked Haddock Chowder Recipe from the Spotted Pig's April Bloomfield

The only slight problem being that after two and a half years of living in NYC, I still haven't found anywhere that sells smoked haddock. I mean, how is a man supposed to make the world's greatest fish pie without smoked haddock??

*rummages in pockets to see if he has enough spare cash for a smoker, smiles dolefully at the 67c in change, goes off to dream about finding yellow dyed fish in some hidden NYC emporium*

Do you blog? What's your URL?

Just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread...I have discovered so many good blogs from this list that I would never have found without it. And I'll admit that I've even had more visitors to my own blog (despite food only being a part of what I blog about). Great to see the Serious Eats community continuing to come together!

Do you blog? What's your URL?

Blog name:A Brit Out Of Water
My URL:http://www.britoutofwater.com
What it's about/tagline:Not a food blog as such, although it often touches on food. Basically I moved from the UK to New York a few months ago to marry my American girlfriend, and start a new life. The blog is supposed to be an amusing look at the process of coming to terms with the cultural differences between two countries divided by a common language.

Great topic, by the way!

Serious Sandwiches: The Chip Butty

I know it sounds wrong, but the chip butty is one of the great British culinary gifts to the world. Make sure the chips are thick cut, not French fries, and they need to be piping hot so that the butter melts. And brown sauce all over it. Makes me miss the UK even more...
