Good restaurant for an awkward dinner

They'll be arriving separately and are ok getting places on their own. Looking for somewhere near(ish) to BAM so Blue Ribbon in Park Slope sounds like a great option -- going to look into that today.
Thanks for your recommendations, everyone.

Good restaurant for an awkward dinner

Um, I did just ask for restaurant recommendations.

Unfortunately the switching off tactic won't work. I'm just hoping I can find somewhere with great service and decent food to make a pleasant meal of it. Specific restaurant suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Good restaurant for an awkward dinner

My two divorced parents are visiting me (I live in Brooklyn) on the same weekend. This will be the first time they're interacting with each other in a long time, and they're not particular fond of each other. Can anyone recommend a restaurant that would make this (probably extremely awkward) dinner the best it can be? Needs to be in Brooklyn, nice-ish, not small/sharing plates based, and ideally servers that really know how to guide a table. help please!
