Cook the Book: 'Put 'em Up!'

My husband loves canned tomato juice. It separates, but you just shake it up when you are ready to open it.

Mixed Review: How to Make Cake Balls

I saw these a couple years ago, done by someone named Bakerella. Her cakeballs and cakepops are cute! I made some for a friend and she had the same reaction.......just kept wanting to eat them.

Your childhood favorites: Are they still guilty pleasures?

Twinkies and snowballs, Kraft Mac and Cheese (now it's Annie's). My mom used to make pickle and pimento loaf sandwiches for my dad and me, but she was not a morning person. One lunchtime I took a big bite of sandwich and discovered that in her morning stupor, she had placed the paper picture of the lunchmeat between the two slices of bread.

Dinner Tonight: Red Posole Stew with Chicken

I love posole, and have been making it with chicken, too.

In our Southern California town, though, the hangover cure was menudo, usually served in restaurants on Saturday and Sunday.

I knew I was in a tough town because many restaurants had signs that said, "Menudo Served Daily."

What Was Your Favorite School Cafeteria Food?

As a high school kid in the late 1960's, healthy foods were not even close to the horizon. Freshly fried donuts was my favorite food. They cost 15 cents.

My son loved Miguel's Jr. bean and cheese burritos. These were originally only available at a small local chain of restaurants, but were added to the school lunch menu in the 1990's. He had one every day for 4 years.

Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 68: Coming Up on the Big 5-0

Good job, Ed! I agree with you about Knox County food. Even the county fair food was blah.

Kenyon: I wish my kids had gone there. Love that school!
