Giveaway: Win A Limited Edition "Zelda Collection" from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

Probably a mojito, yum.

Cook the Book: 'The Chinese Takeout Cookbook'

Wonton soup, with the crispy noodles on the side. Yum.

Is there a Cilantro gene?

There is some degree of truth to it. Google "cilantro gene taste" and look for the NPR article, it sums up and explains the findings pretty well.

What sweet and sugary cereal were popular in 2000?

Right around that time, honey crunch cornflakes. Oh man do I wish they still made those.

Cereal Eats: What Are Your Favorite Cereals?

I can't say I have enough to categorize them by eating occasion, but:
Rice Chex
Cap'n Crunch (original)
Cocoa krispies/pebbles
Also, Wegmans makes a blueberry muffin squares cereal (sort of like Cinnamon Toast Crunch but blueberry) that is dangerous for us to keep in the house.

Cook the Book: 'From A Polish Country House Kitchen'

Cabbage and potatoes - sauerkraut and potato/cheese pierogi!

Food Trivia Questions Needed

This one stumped a lot of people at a bar trivia contest a few weeks ago: Avocado is the 2nd-fattiest fruit; which fruit contains the most fat?

Answer: olives!

Why do grocery store cashiers 'throw' my food?

At my local Trader Joe's last weekend, the cashier actually opened my dozen eggs to check that none were broken - I was pretty impressed with that and have never had that happen before!

We Try Häagen-Dazs's New Gelato Line

Does the black cherry amaretto taste anything like Parkerhouse? I can rarely find Parkerhouse ice cream so it would be fantastic if this was a close match!

with half and half or with milk!

"Do you have a hollow leg?"

At my wedding, the servers told everyone at the head table that we could eat as much of anything as we wanted, just to ask for seconds if we wanted it. Our best man ate hors d'oeuvres, salad and bread, and two full plates of dinner (chicken, steak, potato, side veg). Then the pre-wedding-cake dessert, giant bricks of Baked Alaska, came out. Each cake was probably a dozen slices. He ate his served slice of it and then asked for and proceeded to consume an entire cake by himself. And he also had some wedding cake later after we cut it. I was pretty damn impressed.

Fictional Animals Eating Human's Food...

The Redwall book series has some serious eats! There are pages and pages in each book dedicated to describing the animals' banquets. I think there's even a Redwall cookbook.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Counter Culture Coffee Subscription

Cream please, no sugar. Yum.

Cook the Book: 'Secrets of the Best Chefs'

The best advice I got was to use recipes as a guide, not as the be-all-end-all guide to cooking. So much more fun to wing it :)

The Food Lab Lite: Roasted Pumpkin Soup with Brown Butter and Thyme

food ya just do NOT like??

Quite a few of the ones mentioned already - liver (unless as pate), beets, lima beans, cauliflower. Also, pineapple, lamb, and radishes. On the upside, I've finally learned to like brussels sprouts this year - I found a few preparations that I enjoy, but I will NEVER like boiled-to-death ones. Yuck.

Buffalo-style pizza

Buffalo pizza is seriously awesome stuff. The slightly thick crust... the sweeter sauce... YUMMMMMMM

Cook the Book: 'The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook'

I made no-cook refrigerator oatmeal from The Yummy Life - blueberry maple flavor - and I'm currently eating it for breakfast. SO easy and healthy. The recommended 2 tsp of maple syrup was a little too sweet for me so I'd tone that down next time... but overall, surprisingly good!

Having Problems With The Mobile Site (Android)

I'm running into the same problem. I have the HTC Evo 3D running ice cream sandwich.

Cilantro: Yea or Nay?

NAY. It tastes like soap to me. I've tried it in multiple types of dishes and the only way it's even remotely tolerable is if there's only a tiny bit in salsa. Otherwise - BLECHHHHHH

tell me about your favorite local foods?

I'm from Buffalo - wings of course; pizza (doughy and with sweeter sauce); sponge candy; loganberry (a very sweet, non-carbonated drink); char-grilled hot dogs; Sahlen's hot dogs and ham. SO MUCH GOOD FOOD!!!

Cereal Eats: We Try the Discontinued Oreo O's

No one cares about honey crunch cornflakes? But that's the best cereal of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Taste Test: The Best Stovetop Macaroni and Cheese

@Erin_in_AR - I've found that adding a little milk to the leftovers improves them a LOT - it's still nowhere near the first day in terms of quality but at least it's edible :)

Canadians Grocery Shopping in the USA, What should we buy?

@Zinnia1 - I'm from Buffalo and NY has those licenses, they are called enhanced instead of extended.

OP - definitely get some Buffalo foods! Hot sauces as mentioned already; sponge candy if you can find it; loganberry (especially Aunt Rosie's), Sahlen's ham or hot dogs, Chef's pasta sauce, Weber's horseradish mustard... all worth it in my opinion :)

Quirky Eating.

I eat pizza by peeling off and eating one thing at a time - first toppings (if multiple toppings, one type at a time), then cheese, then I eat the crust/sauce :)

Stuffing my face in Zurich

I'm going to be in Zurich later this month and I'm looking for great places to eat near ETH Zurich. Some of my friends I'll be eating with are vegetarian, so places with good veggie options are appreciated! Any suggestions?

Bachelorette party dinner

I'm planning a bachelorette party in NYC. To save money, we want to eat dinner at the hotel before we go out for drinks and random debauchery. No one attending the party actually lives in NYC, so no chance of cooking at a guest's apartment - so we found some hotels with kitchens/kitchenettes in the room. I'm thinking of bringing ingredients to cook and/or some premade dishes for dinner. I'll be feeding about 20-25 girls. What would you recommend for some classy dishes that would be easy to transport or easy to cook at a hotel with a (possibly limited) kitchen in the room?

Toronto restaurant recommendations?

My husband and I are going to Toronto for a belated honeymoon at the end of July. We have been there before but have only been to less expensive restaurants - under $20 per person - and we are looking for some recommendations for more upscale places to go. We'll be staying in the downtown area, near the Eaton Centre, and we'd prefer things within walking distance from there (although we would gladly walk 45 min for somewhere great). Thanks for your suggestions!
