How many times a day do you eat?

Twice, at least that's what I tell myself. I'm a cheesemonger at a natural foods coop so I'm in a graze all day.

Meat Lite: Warm Winter Salad

Had some butternut squash on hand so I decided on this dish. It was delicious. You could probably extend the cook time on the veggies by about ten minutes.. My jaws had a workout!

Cook the Book: 'How to Cook Everything, Revised Tenth Anniversary Edition'

My neighbor (we've ended up in the same neighborhood over the last few years) screams holy high for Mark Bittman's cookbook. Here's the catch: My nabe can't cook for his life even with the addition of Bittman's book. So I end up cooking for him and our friends with How to Cook Everything. I don't really need a new copy; I'll put it on Bookmooch.com

Cook the Book: 'A16 Food + Wine'

It was a bottle of muscadine wine found in an old barn. Probably a holdover from the Ford Administration. It was delicious, unexpected and probably more vinegar than wine. But it was great.

Dinner Tonight: Asparagus and Rice Soup with Pancetta and Black Pepper

I tried this last night and boy was it amazing. This dish truly changed my life as an individual and aspiring chef. However, I substituted picnic shoulder for pancetta and increased the rice by another quarter cup. The hickory twang to this dish was sweet!

Reminder: Stop Eating Thanksgiving Leftovers

Expiration dates are for the birds. I concocted turducken for Thanksgiving (at my friend's request and with her money). Tomorrow is turducken gumbo day! And I'm certain these opulent leftovers will be A-OK. I'm no researcher, but I feel confident that you can find a co-relation between allergies and current sanitation practices. C'mon, its common sense. YTMND FTW.

Ronco rotisserie??

Yeah, unlike the pocket fisherman or the veg-o-matic, The Showtime rotisserie works. Heat lamp + electric motor = surprisingly good stuff. The basket can be a pain. I do burgers in them and sometimes they'll slide around , scorching the sides.

Cornbread Stuffing Muffins with Ham and Sage, from 'Bon Appétit'. The recipe is just ho hum but the idea that every person maximizes their stuffing crispy bits due to the muffin tins is amazing.

The Cranberry Relish with Orange and Ginger sounds great! I love cranberries with orange juice/zest. I've tried lots of variations, but never with ginger before.

Honey brined and smoked turkey for me. I live on the seventh floor of an apartment house so I gave my brother a smoker for Christmas last year so he could smoke me some turkey.
