Had some butternut squash on hand so I decided on this dish. It was delicious. You could probably extend the cook time on the veggies by about ten minutes.. My jaws had a workout!

My neighbor (we've ended up in the same neighborhood over the last few years) screams holy high for Mark Bittman's cookbook. Here's the catch: My nabe can't cook for his life even with the addition of Bittman's book. So I end up cooking for him and our friends with How to Cook Everything. I don't really need a new copy; I'll put it on Bookmooch.com

It was a bottle of muscadine wine found in an old barn. Probably a holdover from the Ford Administration. It was delicious, unexpected and probably more vinegar than wine. But it was great.
Dinner Tonight: Asparagus and Rice Soup with Pancetta and Black Pepper
I tried this last night and boy was it amazing. This dish truly changed my life as an individual and aspiring chef. However, I substituted picnic shoulder for pancetta and increased the rice by another quarter cup. The hickory twang to this dish was sweet!

Reminder: Stop Eating Thanksgiving Leftovers
Expiration dates are for the birds. I concocted turducken for Thanksgiving (at my friend's request and with her money). Tomorrow is turducken gumbo day! And I'm certain these opulent leftovers will be A-OK. I'm no researcher, but I feel confident that you can find a co-relation between allergies and current sanitation practices. C'mon, its common sense. YTMND FTW.
Ronco rotisserie??
Yeah, unlike the pocket fisherman or the veg-o-matic, The Showtime rotisserie works. Heat lamp + electric motor = surprisingly good stuff. The basket can be a pain. I do burgers in them and sometimes they'll slide around , scorching the sides.
