Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
The "Greek sauce" sounds a lot like Cincinnati chili.
Shacktoberfest Comes To The Shake Shack October 2nd
As a bratwurst lover and Wisconsin transplant, my only question/comment is why, why, WHY! are they going the cheddar brat route? Cheese has no business being on or in a brat, despite what Johnsonville says or does.
Minneapolis Burger Flowchart
all you need to know about minneapolis, or should i say twin cities, burgers is the nook and lion's tap. they are represented. forget about the jucy lucy thing -- these two are the tops.

Mac-and-Cheese Pizza Available at Hell's Kitchen Pizza
FYI, Mesa in Minneapolis' Dinkytown neighborhood also has a mac and cheese slice that is quite popular among the local crowd. Never had it, but they did recently win best pizza in the local "alt weekly".

'Food Network Magazine' Lists the Best Burgers in the Country
I second BangieB. It's a shame this list ignored the countless better burgers in Madison alone, not to mention the various other contenders in the great taverns across Wisconsin. A burger with a pretzel bun? What an embarrassment.
Burbank, California: Tasting History at Bob's Big Boy
As a child I was a big fan of the Big Boy burger at the local "Marc's Big Boy" (same chain, different franchise owner). It never came with that tomato relish, just thousand island.
Terra Burger, an All-Organic Burger Joint in Austin
That particular burger looks very dry.
Stage Restaurant: Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory
then god forbid that we have a burger site review their burgers. if it wasn't for nick's previous reviews i probably never would have tried the burger at veselka. and i'm really glad i did.
Stage Restaurant: Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory
in regards to simon's comment, if they are getting ground beef delivered fresh daily that suggests they take their burgers somewhat seriously. if it was just an afterthought, or thrown bone, why wouldn't they simply skimp and offer up frozen patties of similar design.
Hamburger America: Dick's Drive-In in Seattle, Washington
'preciate it HA. Looks delicious.

What, no pics or autopsies? I need me some burger porn.
Another Slider Misnomer on 'Chopped'
And what of the photo in the "photograzing" section of the page that calls itself "mini slider wrapped in lettuce"? Not only is that caption redundant and incorrect, the product looks disgusting.
Cheese-Stuffed Burgers from the Stumble Inn in New York City
I already commented on the photo, but I just wanted to add that here in Jucy Lucy land the places that serve Jucys typically cook them to medium.
Stuffed burger from The Stumble Inn
Why does this photo keep ending up on the AHT front page? It's disgustingly over cooked, and its gray meat makes me ill with every accidental viewing.
Chowhounders Discuss NYC's Most Underrated Burgers
I don't to sign in to chowhound so I'll comment here since you left them open.
My favorite NYC burger used to be the All State Cafe on 72nd. Then it was forced to close. RIP.
My new underrated fave is the Fairway cafe burger. I think you guys had a post on it recently. Very tasty!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

Veselka Has a Burger You'll Continue to Crave the Next Day
I take back my comment above. I had the Veselka burger again the other day. Ordered rare it came out just like Nick's, and it was superb.
Veselka Has a Burger You'll Continue to Crave the Next Day
I've only had the burger once, and when I did it was overcooked and the bun was far to charred. I agree with HA, this one indeed looks like a hit.
Dear AHT: Best Burger in Wisconsin at Kroll's West in Green Bay
I'm from Green Bay, and Kroll's isn't even the best burger in town (and Kroll's East is better than the West). Indeed, a big pat of melted butter is delicious, but in recent years Kroll's patties have become school lunch-like.
If you are in Green Bay do yourself a favor and go to Al's Hamburger on 131 S. Washington St. downtown -- it's a real Green Bay institution. Or I suggest the rather new Burger Company on Broadway. These are essentially the only two places in the city where you can get a great burger cooked to your desired temperature.
Shake Shack UWS: The Airing of Grievances
I went there last Saturday evening in the rain, and the line, though almost out the door, was remarkably swift. The down side is that I ordered my double cheeseburger rare, and it came out well over the medium they say cook all their meat to. My fries were similarly overcooked, though I've never had that problem at MSP.
Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
Never had a burger there, but the next time we go for chili dogs, I'm getting one now. I really miss the hockey puck grills like Red Chimney and the Anthony Wayne, and this resembles that fare.
Terra Burger, an All-Organic Burger Joint in Austin
I concur with the dry burger comments here. I went to the second location on 183 and experienced a very disappointing dry burger and soggy fries. Details and photos here: http://auslunch.com/restaurants/TerraBurger. It ain't cheap either.
Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
Oh, the Hot Grill! Surprisingly, I've never been there (we were loyal patrons of the no-longer Rascals in Totowa, but I remember the commercials from my childhood. . . ah, New Jersey.
Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
I've been to the Hot Grill many times. Don't remember ever ordering a burger. It was a popular stop a few years ago on the Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour. I would rate it top 3 along with Libby's and Pappy's for a Texas Weiner. Pappy's chili is my favorite. Better dog too. Pappy's uses a Thumann's while the Hot Grill uses a milder Sabrett beef and pork dog. One thing. The Paterson/Clifton area Texas Weiner is deep fried. The Plainfield area Texas Weiner is a grilled Grote & Weigel griddle frank with a thicker chili.
Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
Nick great story. I grew up on Hot Grill in Clifton and it is hands down the best in Northern NJ , if not the tri-state area for Texas style dogs and burgers. Order a cheeseburger "all the way" and fries with gravy and you will be coming back again and again.
Going 'All the Way' with Burgers at The Hot Grill in Clifton, New Jersey
Having been a Hot Grill fan since the 70's the burger all the way is a great item, but the thing to get a Hot Grill is fries all the way, fries mustard, raw onions, and sauce. Add a little hot sauce and you have a masterpiece.

Greek sauce, all the way, ruthless revelations... what a tag cloud this could be! Great review, Nick!

that picture is so mouth watering, you had to double post! :)
Veselka Has a Burger You'll Continue to Crave the Next Day
Was excited to try this as it is on Top 10 lists. It is a far cry from belonging on any 'best of' list. Plenty of gristle and I'm still burping it up six hours later. Plenty of other good eats there -- do yourself a favor and pass on the burger.
Dear AHT: Best Burger in Wisconsin at Kroll's West in Green Bay
I have lived in Green Bay for most of my life and Kroll's used to have good burgers, but not anymore. They are small, chewy lifeless patties, likening them to the school lunch burger is about right. All that butter on top does not cover up a bad burger patty. When I want a burger, I head north towards Door County to a country bar, Joe Rouer's, in Duval. Good burgers and great bloody mary's at a good price.

Love the 112 Bakery. Didn't have their burger tho.. Maybe sometime in the next.. DECADE?

How can you entertain a "jucy lucy (cheese filled)" without Matt's in the decision tree? Unless you're bringing kids with you. Much better than 58.

I want to give some more props to Terry's Turf Club in Cincinnati. Holy crap thats a great burger. I was there tonight with a keen eye on the cook. He went about his business perfectly. Great soft, griddled buns. Nice Moderately thin patties on a screaming hot griddle (Tommy told me it was 81/19 black agnus chuck). Flipped once. You can get all kinds of toppings, or just a slice of cheese. Great beer selection and atmosphere. Adam, you would love this place, they do not mess around.

Oh yeah, Burger Joint... definitely the #8 or #9 burger in NYC. :(
Burbank, California: Tasting History at Bob's Big Boy
The Virginia Peninsula version was Shoney's Big Boy in the early '60's. I haven't been back, so I have no idea if it is still there. The routine was to drive from Warwick Shoney's to Hampton Shoney's and back and so forth. Remember, these were the days of crusin' in really fast cars, and, of course, parking. The famous item I remember was their strawberry pie. I can't exactly remember what it was, but I think it was large, fresh strawberries immersed in whipped cream piled on top of a single pie crust. I do remember being rewarded with much making-out after a dance at the Original Club or school, the purchase of said pie for my girlfriend, and then parking along the James River at one of several locations. Ah, high school! As for the Big Boys, I remember eating them but that's about all. I have no memory of what they had on them or what they tasted like, or even what they cost. I do remember when McDonalds opened on Mercury Blvd and burgers were 15 cents, fries were 12 cents, but I don't remember what drinks were. Anyway, hanging out at Shoney's and sneaking a beer, crusin' back and forth and the like were our days of American Graffiti. I think that's why I like the film so much; it was as real in Virginia as it was in Modesto.

While I concur with the consensus here that this list needs to be revised I went out last weekend to try the original Frita Burger at El Rey De Las Fritas anyway.
The Frita burger is really good and quite interesting being made with beef and chorizo topped with fried potatoes and onions on cuban bread. If you are a Floridian or just a tourist, make your way to little Havana and try the Frita burger. I was happy I did.
But I still slate Le Tub #1.

I'm pretty angry they chose some hoity-toity white tablecloth restaurant to represent my great state of MN. Seriously! So many awesome juicy-lucy's to choose from-- 5-8, Nook, Matt's, and they choose this!!! Grrrrrr.
'Food Network Magazine' Lists the Best Burgers in the Country
also... i know it isn't officially a "state", but why isn't washington, dc represented? with a population greater that 3 or 4 actual states you would think that a cultural mecca and melting pot like DC should have been represented... no?
'Food Network Magazine' Lists the Best Burgers in the Country
personally, i'm disappointed in the selection of in-n-out for california... basically, i think they should not have picked a franchise chain burger, i think... like most of the other states, i think they should have chosen a burger from a sole proprietor... shows a lake of imagination from the editors, in my opinion....
'Food Network Magazine' Lists the Best Burgers in the Country
Ray's Hell-Burgers are awesome so they must have had a good source for that area (or at least read donrockwell.com). Despite that, this list is pointless and vaguely insulting.

Colorado: I've never been to Jack-N-Grill, but the Juarez is described as a "10oz patty of fresh-ground chuck, ham, hot-dog, fresh ground chile, cheese, guacamole, and mayo." Forgive me if I'm skeptical, but I'm not sure I like the idea of ham and hot dog meat in my burger. The photo on the site looks gnarly too: ( http://www.jackngrill.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/Picture451.jpg.w300h224.jpg ). Has anyone been there and can tell me if this is actually as bad as it sounds and I should most definitely NOT drive into Denver for this, or if I'm wrong and shouldn't judge a burger by its description/picture?

No way In-n-Out would beat out Taylor's in Cali. Sorry, Taylor's Refresher has some of the best burgers in the country.

Onion burgers are good, but somehow I'm thinking the place in El Reno, Oklahoma isn't as great as it says...
Then again I'm biased, I think homemade onion burgers will always triumph.
