Have a favorite street food vendor in NYC? A good story?

Many New Yorkers visit street food vendors on a daily basis. I'm curious about favorites that you may have or good stories of an interaction with a food vendor. Also, do you think food vendors should get more recognition from food critics?

Fish on Bleecker. Great prices and excelently cooked. Also great drink deals if you go early.
