Norman Weinstein has some videos on YouTube if you want to preview his teaching techniques. I just typed in "mastering knife skills" in the search box and clicked away at the results!
Wagyu shabu shabu with green tea cheescake (for dessert that is, not actually in the boiling water)
" I love scrambling an egg and putting on top of leftover pizza, and then melting additional cheese on top. Yum. ".
thanks for the afternoon snack idea!
people will get used to it....no biggy
i must admit, i was excited about the Neely's first show when it came out, since i love bbq. However, since their first episode pretty much showed everything about their bbq recipes in one sitting, the following episodes ran out of "steam" (material) fast. I couldn't believe the mix of food that followed, always seemed like second-rate "experimental" recipes to me.
I'm with Markbb, FN is just pushing quantity over quality.
haha great story! Capsaicin in chillies is water insoluble so drinking water won't help. However, the good news is capsaicin is fat or alcohol soluble. So drinkin a glass of milk, yogurt, or even beer will help "wash" the nightmarish solution down and get your tongue ready for more! Love your stories!
Cat Cora haha...priceless. Guy gets my vote.
chipotle...it's in everything now. Over-rated and honestly folks..it's not that "smoky"
Kalbi. It's all about how i massage the meat baby!! oh yeah...
@foodie4life ~ Let me be the first to welcome you to SE. Lots of fun and great information with wonderful folks here.
I believe the vast majority agree with you regarding Gina Neely. What were they thinking? Pat seems like a great guy and the real cook. Unfortunately, I can't watch him because she gets on my last nerve.
Anyone else think Sunny Anderson is a Rachael Ray clone? Not as loud, obnoxious and annoying, but really close. Non-stop chatter and anecdotes are not necessary!!!! I long for real chefs and hope for more Anne Burrelll and others of her talent and ability.
I just found this website and I really like it. I have honestly tried to watch Down Home with the Neely's but I just can't take it. I am a big Food Ntwk fan and have my likes and dislikes. But Gina Neely drives me insane. If you've ever heard the whine of a jet engine getting up to speed, then you know how her voice can grate on your last nerve. My ears bleed just trying to listen to her. This in no way is a reflection on her cooking abilities. She's just annoying with all that cooing and touchy-feely and eye-batting. Get a room already. Sorry if my first post was a rant....but I had to vent about her somewhere. Thanks for listening.
I am so thrilled to see so many people jumping up against poor quality pet foods! Whoo!
Iams and Science Diet are no better at all, take a good look at the ingredients. Those prescription foods that are pushed at the vet are just the same. Raw is best, high-meat content, low or no additive/by-product/grain canned food second. There are a few decent dry foods, and dogs do slightly better on them as omnivores than carnivorous cats, but this food is SAD.
Nothing makes me crazier than seeing FOOD COLORING in pet food!! That is to aesthetically please HUMANS! Dogs are COLORBLIND and I can't imagine they would care if they weren't!
I see those ads for the cat foods that "Are just like what WE eat" with veggies and rices and grains....plus too much fish in everything. UGH!
I wonder if RR even has a clue, or if she is just the perky puppet for the marketing. I contacted her site about it, big long letter last night. Doubt she sees those though, just her people.
I would never buy this simply because the twee name makes me throw up slightly.
Well, I'm sure her heart is in the right place, but I agree...she certainly needs to be more active in the ingredient department. Also, fyi, her deceased dog's name was Boo. The new puppy is Isaboo. Every dog owner owes it to him or herself to check out the wonders of the raw diet. Dogs in the wild do not cook their food....why do we? Grain is also a minimal part of their natural diet and not at all a part of a cat's natural diet. I feed my dog a mix of raw ground turkey or beef, raw eggs (shell included), a myriad of vegetables, fresh fruit. The boy eats better than I do! The cost is about the same as that of a "premium" dry food. If you are going to do the dry routine go to Flint River Ranch online.
Nutrish - I'm surprised she didn't call it EVOO, or something other annoying thing she made up, like TB (trash bowl) or, Deeeeelish, jeese she needs to go away!
Unless she names all her dogs the same name, that dog died. I heard her talk about it on her cooking show.
hc you have to be kidding! I just reread all of the ingredients and I am shocked that you think that the ingredients "aren't too bad". They are awful.
Anyone who knows about what not to feed their dog will understand.
There are dyes in the treats, artificial everything.
Horrible.
Artificial Color (Red #40, Yellow #5 & #6, Blue #2)!!
High Fructose Corn Syrup, Propylene Glycol !!
READ about Propylene glycol!!
amazingly poor. there is no excuse for her saying she loves animals and puts her name behind this.
It may be for" a good cause" but my first good cause is feeding my own dogs real food that is actually healthy, not the garbage that the commercial pet food industry poisons them with and now Rachel belongs to that group!
I work with some pet food regulatory (not an expert) and I would say in my opinion and judgement that the ingredients aren't too bad considering what's out there; and if it's for a good cause after all--
it's better than buying Iams:
