Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby Renamed 'Hubby Hubby' in Support of Gay Marriage

How sad that such a small gesture to once again be inclusive to all has so many people, for whatever reason, so angry. These are the same conservatives who are so worried about the elected President of the United States speaking to our kids to tell them to work hard and stay in school they want to refuse everybody's kids the right to see him. I let my child listen to Nancy Reagan with her "Just Say NO" campaign. Thank you Ben and Jerry's. I for one, have always been a fan and now am even more of a fan. I hope all those who are so anti gay never have a child that is homosexual-who are you to tell others how to live their life?

Money Saving Tips On Food

I work at a Super Target and if you live near one be sure and check their cut prices on items that are getting ready to expire. Many times bagged salads, produce, meat and deli items are reduced significantly (how does 75% sound?) . I find if I have a list and stick to it, I miss many savings because I am not looking for them. Ask the people that work there-become a regular customer- I have gotten T bone steak cheaper than what I would have paid for ground chuck. Don't rush your grocery shopping. Just don't go in thinking "I am just going to get the ham because it is on sale", and miss the block of cheddar cheese that is on price cut for 75 cents because you were afraid to look. Check the french fries in your local grocery-big bags are cheap and you just throw them in the oven. We used to have boxed macaroni and cheese with a can of tuna in it or some chili on top. Homemade soup made with leftovers with a loaf of crusty french bread you get for $1.50 or so. When we were truly broke, I got the canned biscuits (store brand) because anything tastes better with something fresh from the oven. Stir fry-use more veggies than meat.

Loved the story, and I think anything that can make you feel like a kid again is worth whatever you feel you can afford.

Please don't judge, but after a rough day last week I bought a can of Spam and dug it out of the can with a fork.

OK. It's clear this thread is going nowhere fast and has run its course. Closing comments now, as it's going to be more of the same from here on out.

aw, Haglered, it's so good to meet people like you. What amazes me about Christians is just how JUDGEMENTAL (hmm...mental?) most of you are. Isn't God supposed to be the one true judge?

By the way, I'm a lesbian (married in Connecticut about two weeks after it was legalized), and I'm also a catholic. And God loves me just as much as he loves you. Remember, we are ALL God's children.

No gramlee, you're a moron because you base your decisions on a collection of fairy tales. Of course it's your prerogative to buy or not buy a product; just as it's our choice to point and laugh when you make a fool of yourself in a public forum. You deserve as much respect as someone who claims the world is flat.

All these companies may have an agenda...and when they make their agenda obvious, it is then my right to no longer buy their product if I choose not to. At least I still have that right, but maybe not much longer with the current administrations communist agenda. And Doctrine....I'm a "moron" because my opinion differs from yours? Hmm I thought liberals were supposed to be open-minded?? I guess not! Oh I forgot, its okay to hate on white christians...just not any other group, such as gays. To base an opinion on "religous nonsense"...very cliche response to anyone opposing gay marriage. All opinions are based on some source within your mind...who is to say a religous source is any more "nonsensical" than a non-religous source. All opinions are just that--opinions....with none being truly right or wrong in nature. But most peoples minds cannot comprehend that, its comical really lol

When I buy ice cream, I am not out to support a politcal agenda, I want to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Such a shame people are still so backwards in this country. Nasty, nasty comments make me sad. Oh well, more ice cream for us non-bigots then! :D

That is TOTALLY DISGUSTING!!!!

Such support shows a total lack of morality.

I don't buy Ben and Jerry's, I certainly will not now.

If you ignore Natures (or I should say God's) laws you are on the road to destruction. Such is the case with the homosexual community. Emotional illness causes them to behave unnatually. Supporting this unnatural activity is as wholesome as pushing tainted twinkies.

Maybe there is a connection there???

All this Pro Gay and Anti gay ice cream talk has me so excited I want to hand pack some fudge and slurp up some smooth vanilla cream and lick that great big spoon. What ,what I say. Ice cream is ice cream isn't it? I'm waiting for Ben and Jerry's pro abortion flavor- it's what ? Bloody what? Baby what?

Hey Gramlee (and the other morons), denying people the right to marry based on gender isn't a conservative or liberal position. It's a bigoted reaction based on religious nonsense. It is completely indefensible by any rational person, especially a REAL conservative.

How is this any different from people eating In N Out burgers that are wrapped in bible verses? or Chik Fil-A who discriminate, er, screens employees based on their religious beliefs in order to create a Christian workforce?

Give me a freakin' break. All of these companies have an agenda. If you're gonna boycott any company that expresses their views and beliefs, you'll end up a very busy home cook.

I eat ______ out of the tin/jar/bottle...

ShawnaAdora had it right...and I guess we're the only ones....

MIRACLE WHIP right from the jar! I eat it sprinkled with black pepper. If I feel fancy, I spread it on crackers!
Cold Chef Boyardee ravioli's from the can ( a childhood vice)
Peanut butter
Eagle Brand milk
Garlic stuffed olives captured with a fork

From Talk

I eat ______ out of the tin/jar/bottle...

@Traveller - you MUST have been upset. I can't imagine eating a jar of grainy mustard by itself! No, capers would be my choice, I love em.

BTW, congratulations on getting that dissertation over and to an old broad like myself, a "B" sounds pretty damned good.

From Talk

I eat ______ out of the tin/jar/bottle...

Peanut Butter; Olives; Pickles; Baked Beans; Chef Boyardee; Condensed Soup; Vegetables; Ice Cream; & Almost anything that doesn't require removal from the container for cooking. If it's cooked or sufficiently prepared in the container, I'll eat it right from said container.

I love to eat my own canned whole tomato's a quart size, right out of the jar. Reminds me of my mom and grandma and the farm in Ohio, great comfort and memory food for me. coco

I eat ______ out of the tin/jar/bottle...

When my sister & I went backpacking around Europe we were on a VERY limited budget... many times we arrived by bus in our next foriegn city, late at night, hungry & unfamiliar. I remember eating peas & corn cold out of the can after shopping at the 24-hour food mart in Barcelona... Dining on red wine & dark chocolate and jumping on the beds in our Paris hotel room... Eating Brie out of the package with a Swiss Army knife... Popping Pringles & chugging Fruitopia at 6am after a night of dancing & drinking in London...

Definately pints of icecream, gelato, sorbet, etc, many nights watching movies with my best friend, or doing a late-night "icecream run" with my sister & splitting a litre of Oreo...

I used to bake peanut butter cookies & eat them out of the pan

Pickles, pickled beets, pickled onions, relish, sauerkraut, olives, salsa, pasta sauce, condensed tomato soup, curried spinach, mushy peas, pie filling, peanut butter, jam, whipped topping, salad dressing, eggless mayonnaise, ketchup, bbq sauce... and yes, margarine...

PS I'm totally underweight, so I can justify eating an "entire" anything, including bags of cookies, a McCain cake, a frozen cream pie :)

I eat ______ out of the tin/jar/bottle...

@dixisue, I like pb & mayo sandwiches, no matter what kind of breat I have, also occasionally add a few slices of ripe banana on that...if out of pb, sit there with banana slices on a plate, each one gets a small blobette of mayo, also good this way on a Ritz cracker.

otherwise, out of can or jar it's:
tuna, drained or undrained
Bush's beans, or B&M, best tasting IMO
Spag/MB from the can, so easy now with the zip-off tops!
uncondensed cream of broccoli or cream of chicken soup
HAVE to taste at least 2 tbl of any new jar spaghetti sauce
herring in cream sauce, or just plain pickled w/onions
sardines, in hot sauce, mustard or oil
salmon from a can, also love to drink the "juice"
pickles from a jar

Pickled Herring in Cream Sauce.
Bread&Butter Sandwich Stacker Pickles.

Peanut butter, Cool whip, baked beans, dill pickles, chocolate cake frosting, and ice cream. A lot of times I'll dip chocolate chip cookies in the Cool whip or the chocolate cake frosting.
