Creepy indeed. I love the as for The McDLT though. That was before my time but I would love to try it now-a-days. I know the packaging is eco-unfriendly but maybe they could do it somehow so that it worked. I never eat fast food but I love watching all the crazy new items that they come up with. That would actually be my ideal job. Creating wacky menu items for Taco Bell or McDonald's, anyone know how I can get in on this?

I love the smell of microwaved popcorn. I don't eat it but I love walking into a space that has a bag in it. Maybe that's becuase my step-father eats a bag each and every night. I'll have to make sure his bags are diacetyl free.

Paula Dean.

I love Paula, she's so affable (in my opinion). I'm actually going to a taping of Paula's Party on April 17th, it's going to be at the Food Network studios in New York and not in Savannah. I was hoping to go to GA but when Paula's Party called me and told me I got tickets there was no way I could turn it down. I'm so excited. Has anyone here ever been to a taping?

So lame...but funny nonetheless. Funny in "I can't believe someone wasted their time on that."

Valentine's Day Chocolate Giveaway

It used to be milk but I've grown more fond of dark. White chocolate can't be considered chocolate, it's disgusting (though I must admit if it's the only option I'll still eat it).

Las Vegas: buffet recommendations?

I agree with that, the Wynn's buffet is incredible. Also the buffet over at the Rio is pretty good, it's livelier and as I recall a little cheaper. You can't really go wrong with either.

The Wynn has a lot of "high end" eats like crab legs, filet and such. Their dessert bar is amazing!

Yeah, I was watching it and was like "Woah, that's Adam from Slice NY, and sweet shirt!" I figured you wore it on purpose. Great job, the show was good. The Potato Chip one after wasn't as interesting. I'm looking forward to the candy and chocolate one next week.

Actually, there's a lot more to competitive eating than gluttony. There's also greed. Check out this video of competitive eater Erik Denmark engaging in an economics debate while shoveling food into his mouth

@sireatsalot
Actually Burgertime was much more influential as a vehicle of communist propaganda (sort of like the claim about Mario, but this is real). Check it out.

Are you serious AllenW?

Are you in turn saying that Burgertime was a influential title in regards to the eating practices of young people? There are a slew of videogames out there that related to food, the preparation and consumption of. I don't think that any of them have a strong impact on young people.

At least MLE doesn't involve car-jacking and killing everything in site.

LARD! Whoa....yeah...ohmigod. I don't keep lard in the house because, well, I'd cook with it all the damn time, but I do save my bacon grease for when I need to add...umm...a shot of bacon grease to my food, which is often. I can't wait to pop in it tonight!

I've recent;y gone back to stove popping. I'm a popcorn fanatic and ate microwave corn for years out of convenience. Totally got used to the styrofoamy taste and texture.

Never again.

Lard? genius.

Reminds me of the 70's kid's show "Magic Garden." That and some of Jim Henson's pre-Muppet work.

If your're cooking with kids, you gotta try home-made Kettle Corn - on the stove (Google a recipe). We love it! Piles of the stuff!

Yes, I was just being poetic--it's ordinary lard, if you can call organic leaf lard ordinary.

rheogs, the microwave popcorn I made was (according to the package, at least) preservative and diacetyl-free. I think the ingredients were just corn, palm oil, and salt. And it still smelled awful!

Bear: I was just thinking about the McDLT today and hit upon why it failed. It basically solves a PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. If McD's was cooking FRESH -- or even frozen burgers cooked to order -- there would be no need for a conveyance to keep a hot side hot and a cool side cool.

I totally agree with Matthew- popcorn made in pig renderings is heavenly.
When I was young my neighbor used to pop us kids (me, my sister and the neighbor kids, a boy and a girl) a shizzload of popcorn, toss it in a brown paper grocery bag and send us on our way with big glasses of kool aid and the instructions to "go play!" whilst she and my mom gabbed for hours. It was always made on the stove top and always, ALWAYS in bacon grease. Bacon grease! I haven't had the guts to replicate it. I think I'll just wait for Jean to invite us to her house again and request it in advance.

I love Paula Deen. She cooks the way I do, and she has fun doing it.

There seems to be a lot of food-snobbery backlash against most of the Food Network hosts and it's just Paula turn as a target.
