I signed up for seriouseats.com for the sole purpose of expressing my disgust with the shoddy, unprofessional, nightmare that was the "Great American Food and Music Fest." There was nothing, "Great," no "food," no "fest" and the only "music" I heard was the sound of 20,000 people cursing their miserable lives. Just to reiterate, I had one of the worst experiences of my life today.
I showed up at the Shoreline and was immediately directed into distant overflow parking as I hiked in past row after row of empty parking. I also enjoyed the half-hour line to cross a crosswalk to get the the event surrounded by a chorus of people asking "what is this line for?" and "is this the line for the food?" That's something you don't expect to hear in a parking lot! As I walked toward the event, I noticed people leaving. That should have set off an ALARM in my head. Once I got in, I found I was trapped between several lines all in different directions and no one knew what any of the lines were for. I got in a line that I thought was for a Pink's hot dogs or maybe T-mobile, it was hard to tell. I waited there for an hour growing hungrier and hungrier. I guess skipping breakfast in anticipation of the awesome food was not a great ideal. I became so desperate, I sent my husband with all of our money to find anything edible, he came back with an ad and a seasoning packet. At that point I decided to cut my losses and got out of there.
Thanks, Seriouseats, for one of the worst days of my life.
