Hot Dog Of The Week: Toronto Street Meat

Wow what an odd post from Serious Eats.

As a Torontonian I can tell you we have some fantastic food. We do not have fantastic street food and it's a hot topic in Toronto with the failed A la Carte program. Read any post about the program and you'll find tons of people upset

As for the hot dogs and odd yellow buns, they all come from the same supplier and aren't the best quality.

Also like @lexophile, I've had mayo on my hot dogs and guarantee it's a condiment at Yonge/Eglinton.

Kale, kale and more kale

If you don't think you can eat it all in one week you should freeze it. I chop, sautee, and then freeze it. I throw it into soups, eggs, rice etc straight from the freezer and it's fine.

You truly do get what you pay for

I also grew up on the coast but have since moved to Toronto. I only buy frozen seafood. If you're not on the coast it's not fresh fish at the fishmonger so the next best thing is having it frozen when it was fresh.

From Recipes

Sunday Brunch: French Toast and Canadian Bacon Sandwiches

I think it would taste great with either, but peameal bacon and Canadian bacon are two different things.

Does anyone have a suggestion for the sherry in this recipe? I don't have it on hand and would prefer not to buy it just for this recipe.

Toronto - Where to eat?

I hate Spring Rolls too! Everything is overcooked and there are gobs of sauce. There are a million other Thai places that are far better.

Toronto is a fantastic place for food. I live here and trust the Now Toronto Cheap Eats Guide. Just get out of the downtown business core and go a little west on Queen or College and you'll be fine.

Also I like the reviews on Blogto.com, they have lower standards than me but they show pictures.
