Is a Small Kitchen an Excuse for Bad Cooking or Not Cooking at All?
Although I would love to have a gorgeous kitchen with custom cabinets, granite countertops and a professional grade oven, etc., that's not my current reality. I have one of the ugliest, most user-unfriendly kitchens I've ever experienced. However, I still love to cook and everything is functional, if not slightly tempermental. When I get my dream kitchen, I'll just appreciate it that much more! In the meantime, there isn't anything that I can't create in my ugly kitchen and I'm still having fun!
Cook the Book: 'Simple Italian Snacks'
One of my favorite party favors is dates stuffed with walnut-sage pesto and wrapped in prosciutto. It's a great blend of savory/sweet and everyone loves them!
In Defense of Breakfast: A Morning Manifesto
I MUST have breakfast within one hour of waking up. During the work-week I eat healthy breakfasts - fresh fruit with a little soy milk, some whey protein, a sprinkling of oats & flaxseeds. Sometimes on the weekend we'll go all out and enjoy bacon & eggs with spinach & cheese. Occasionally, we'll have something very indulgent like cranberry bread french toast or corn meal pancakes. And when we travel and eat out for breakfast, all bets are off! Bring on the grits, steak & eggs, pancakes, lobster eggs benedict, etc. I'm fairly certain that breakfast must be served in heaven. :)

Last bite on earth:

Best slice of cake used to be served at TopFlr in Atlanta. It was a Vahlrona chocolate flourless cake with chocolate ganache and served with vanilla tobacco ice cream, drizzled with blackberry coulis. The cake was perfectly dark and rich and the spiciness of the tobacco in the ice cream was a delicious surprise. Sadly, the pastry chef has left the restaurant. I've tried to find where she went so I can hire her to make that cake for me once per day, but she seems to have disappeared! I have dreams about that cake! It's a good thing that my mom's dark chocolate cake with buttercream icing is so fantastic. Otherwise, I'd probably give up eating cake altogether!
