A Sandwich a Day: Hot Sicilian at The Deli in Fairfax, VA

@csanner - I completely agree. Actually, when there is nothing appealing on the menu at the cafeteria in my office building, this sandwich is one of the first things that comes to my mind.

The Super Bowl of Food: Pittsburgh vs. Green Bay

I feel obligated to point out that Rolling Rock, though born in Latrobe, PA, left the city in 2006 after its sale to Anheuser-Busch. Most locals don't touch it anymore.

Pretzel M&M's--Anyone tried them? What do you think of them?

They were OK, but I have to agree with the majority of the other commenters: pretzel was basically stale, and the whole thing tasted like a crunchy M&M. I won't be buying them again.

Anyone Guilty of Buying a Food Infomercial Gadjet?

@dbcurrie: My mom bought one of those Turbo Cooker's a while back, too. We tried to cook a pork roast and the directions said it would take something like 30 - 45 minutes. It actually took THREE HOURS to get anywhere near cooked (even in the medium rare neighborhood). Needless to say, we sent it back the next morning. :-)

what's your new thing?

Tomato sandwiches with mayo and fresh black pepper. With all the yummy summer tomatoes, I just can't stop!

"Smashed" potatoes--another example of the Rachael Ray-ing of food in America. And don't even get me started on "EVOO."

Win Your Thanksgiving Turkey!

There is this little hidden part right along the breast bone--just smack up against it. I steal it every year.

It doesn't matter how long the turkey has been in the oven. That part is always moist and absolutely perfect!

Win Your Thanksgiving Turkey!

Turkey soup. Nothing like a hearty bowl of soup with homemade noodles when it's starting to get cold outside.
