Have to agree with St John - lovely place.

Also - for Vietnamese - there's a great place on Englefield Road called Viet Huong..looks like a canteen, tastes like heaven :)

Another really good place for Indian food is the Lahore Kebab House off the Commercial Road in the East End.

Thats so funny, I'm reading Anthony Bourdain's book "A Cook's Tour" and he sings St John's praises to the rafters. Its definitely on my list of places to go (when I can afford it).

My absolute favourite favourite restaurant in London both for price, atmosphere and food is "The Little Bay" on Belsize Road just off of Kilburn High Street in NW6. They have balcony and theatre box tables, big baskets of delicious bread and butter, free vegetable side dishes and most 3 course meals are under 15 pounds.

Its a chain, but I highly recommend the Kilburn branch.

J. Sheekey is my favorite restaurant, period. I'm not saying it's the "best," just my favorite.

Another great place is Mandalay on Edgware Rd: delicious Burmese food, especially if you get a little tired of a typical curry (it's possible. The owner is one of the most hospitable and sincere proprietors I've met. I've found nothing comparable anywhere in the states.

For Chinese, Mandarin Kitchen on Bayswater Rd.
