What Fall Foods Are You Excited For?
Brussels sprouts from the farmer's market, roasted in the oven. Even people who normally hate them love these ones!
Seriously Asian: Searching for the Perfect Wok
An outdoor propane burner is not so convenient for those in apartments and/or live somewhere where there is snow on the ground for over half the year. :)
I bought this Korean "marble-coated" non-stick wok last year and it cooks decently well, and it cleans so easily that I'm thinking of buying their frying pans the next time I need to replace my Teflon ones.

Do You Have a Favorite Cheapish Olive Oil?
I was going to suggest Bertolli as well. And perhaps the Gallo ones by Unico, if you have access to them.

Compiling recipes for a family cookbook - advice?
I would check out Blurb.com too - they have a template for recipe books, I believe, and their software is free to download. The print quality is pretty good - I made a friend's wedding photo album through that site.
Video: 'Don't You Put It In Your Mouth' PSA
Speaking as someone who saw that thing as a teenager, I'd have to say we all thought it was hilariously bad. But then they played it over and over and over, and I've been trying to erase that video from my memory for years. Thanks for torturing me with it again Robyn! :P
Impromptu Taste Test: The Cult of Yakult
Bleh. I'd take a Yop over Yakult any day. Or even better, drink a Vitasoy instead.
Blogspot or Wordpress?
I opened accounts in both, and ended up sticking with Wordpress (http://bruleeblog.wordpress.com) because I liked the features in there more. Everything on my site is done using one of the free templates. I just subbed in my own photo for the header, and changed the colour of the font titles. I believe you can export the content if you want to make your own domain later on. And many domain hosts offer Wordpress servers.
My advice? Test pages in both and see which one fits you better.
'Julie & Julia' (& Nora)
It's also based on Child's My Life in France, so if you didn't like Julie Powell's book I wouldn't stress over it. I saw the movie last night - Streep is great in it, and they make Powell less annoying than she is in her book. ;)

Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
My first experience of Indian food didn't happen until I was an adult. Just out of school and in my first job, co-workers took me to an Indian buffet. Now I order the good stuff out of the menu - dals, sag paneer, dosas, biraynis... mmm yummy.

In Vancouver I actually like Kirin better than Sun Sui Wah, so if you ever go there again Ed you need to check it out like BananaMonkey did.

I've been frying kim chee with scrambled eggs or omelets. Goes fantastically together!
Dinner Tonight: Pad See Ew
I wouldn't say they're the same. Dark soy sauce is aged longer than light soy sauce, and is thicker. Mushroom soy sauce is considered a dark soy sauce, but it is flavoured with mushrooms so if you don't want mushrooms in your dish you shouldn't be using it. Kind of like the difference between regular ketchup and flavoured ketchup - still ketchups, but different tastes.

Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 59: How Much Should I Weigh?
I'm going through some weight loss myself and have lost 9 pounds over 3 months thanks to diet and exercise. But, I have lots of muscle. People have told me I look like I've lost 20 pounds. Instead of focusing on the weight, I'm aiming for clothing sizes. I've dropped two sizes already - my goal is ultimately to be 2-3 sizes smaller. I know I will have reached my goal if I can go into a store and buy clothes from the regular sized racks.
I'm never going to be a stick - my body structure is too big for that. But I am determined to be healthy. Beyond size, I'm starting to think of physical achievements too. I may even start training to run a half-marathon sometime in the next year.
Reading your posts have helped too. Thanks for that.
Do You Have a Favorite Greek Yogurt?
Cabot's Plain Greek Style Yogurt is absolutely wonderful! The price is right, too....much less expensive that Fage. Trader Joe's brand yogurt is also very good....especially the Honey flavoured. I like plain yogurt with a dollop of lemon curd....YUMMY!
Fage is fine but way too expensive.....rather make it myself than pay that amount. Oixos and Chobani, not so much.
Impromptu Taste Test: The Cult of Yakult
Danactive tastes better, does more, is healthier and only costs .50 cents a bottle.
Impromptu Taste Test: The Cult of Yakult
Ooh, I have fond of memories of this. It was a staple in my childhood, and it was always a treat. There was always something so pleasurable about tearing off that red and silver foil cover.
I'm now in my 30s, and I've rediscovered this drink. I just decided to buy three packs when I chanced upon a vendor on our street, since it was so humid. Great decision! I am now stashing packs in my fridge. If anyone asks, I'm citing the health-probiotic thingy as my reason for drinking it :-P.

I've checked out both, and if you are remotely serious about building a site, not just throwing up quickie posts and updates for friends, then wordpress seems like the way to go. It's more powerful and versatile.

Look, all of us want more blog traffic, and there is no way we can read all of our collective blogs, but we should really make an effort to check out at least other 5 SE's blogs if we post our own in this thread --after all, not fair to 'shill' if you don't help others out!

Blogspot or Wordpress?
I have a blog with each... one is the blog for my restaurant (bloggert) and the other is my personal blog (wordpress). I like wordpress better overall. It is easier to post to and format, and I love the way the dashboard is laid out. It shows me recent comments on my blog (and has a page for blogs that I have commented on) and some stats right on the dashboard. I also really love the detailed stats page. It tells me exactly where my visitors are coming from, what links they have clicked, what pages they have visited, what search items brought them to my blog, and also what other blogs or web pages have a link to my blog. I do not like that they only blogs I can 'follow' are other wordpress blogs. I also don't like that the free version does not allow you to carry ads. I don't want to do that now, but I might want to eventually.
As for blogger, it is still easy to post to, but the formatting is a little pickier. I had to go out and find a widget for blog hits, but that is the only stat I can get... my weekly & monthly hits. There is also not just one spot to see my comments. That being said, I love that I can follow any blog or website I want (not just blogger!) and each new post shows right up on my dashboard. I also like that you can feature ads, but seeing as this blog is for my restaurant, I don't feel it is appropriate.
Hope this helps!

So wonderful to have so many fellow writers! I actually have two blogs to share. One is my personal blog: www.thedilettantista.wordpress.com which covers, well, EVERYTHING, cooking, restaurants, movies, etc. I started it this summer when I was living in New York City for an internship, so it is especially heavy on NYC eating.
I am also a contributing writer to Carpe Durham, a food blog that focuses on eating in Durham, North Carolina. The blog was started a few years ago by Duke law students, and I am a newer writer. The blog is a great source if you live in the Triangle area!

While I'm at it, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you food bloggers. The time, effort, and enthusiasm you all put into your blogs delights, entertains, and educates the rest of us.
Thank you all!
