Gentian violet - isn't that used to clear up thrush in a nursing infant?

There's a chain of ice cream stores on the East Coast (in Maryland for sure) called Friendly's. In the summer, they used to sell a dessert with a name like "watermelon slice" that is very similar to this. The 'rind' is lemon sherbet (or maybe sorbet), while the 'flesh' is rasberry, and yes, it's flecked with chocolate chip 'seeds'. Very tasty! One could also buy a "half watermelon" to take home. It's been a long time since I've been in that part of the country, so I don't know if they still offer this tasty treat. I'd love to find a popsicle version! I'll have to try the Asian markets in my area.
Yes, it's totally the same kind of eel used in Japanese restaurants.
Do you suppose that is the same kind of eel used in Japanese restaurants? Or do they use fresh?
Anonymom, I used to LOVE FRIENDLY'S! And I remember the watermelon thing: looks like it still exists. When I went to the restaurant though, I'd always get the clown cone sundae from the kid's menu. :)
