What to Make with Leftover Bread

Well, I've just joined the virtual- oops, strike that- actual blizzard of recession layoffs. And while I've been doing my best to believe it isn't as bad as all that- here I am. I looked at this posting because I have a friend who brings me "day olds" he gets for free, as friend of a baker. These are lovely artisan loaves I bought last summer, for $6 or more a piece and LET go stale for great dishes like panzanella and ribolitta....Forget frugality! This is eating high on the hog ( or loaf, if you will). My tip: find a friend with bread connections!
