Cook the Book: 'Tacos'

The summer when I was 16, and I spent a month visiting with my cousins in Colima, Mexico. We would finish every night of drinking with tacos. It was a month of firsts for me, and I'll always remember those tacos.

Grocery Ninja: Agave Nectar, Not Just for Hippies

i bought it at whole foods in union square, nyc when a chili recipe i was making called for it. it is great in tea and coffee. i don't know how widely whole foods carries it, or if it is just in their mega stores. the park slope food coop also carries it.

agree with procraftinate - can you go into more detail about the dough?

also, masa dough means dough dough. i understand the distinction being made between this dough and bread dough or whatever, but i still find the phrase hysterical.

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Hungry for Paris'

the few days that i've spent there were at the tail end of a month long trip. it was cold, my sister and i were both under 10 years old, and my mom got the flu as soon as we got to paris. we spent several of our days in paris in bed in our hotel room, watching cartoons. all i remember eating in paris is a hot crepe with nutella from a street vendor. it was delicious.

Cook the Book: Serves One

i live alone, so most of my meals are "for one" so i can't really pick one thing that i cook when i'm alone. i feel like this question was biased towards people who live with (a significant) others. dish i make most frequently is what i make for breakfast: one fried egg on toasted buttered bread.

Japanese Liquor Store in NYC?

There is a liquor store at 23 and 6 that carries a large large selection of sakes and other asian liquors. If they don't carry it, you can ask if they can order it for you. (I don't remember the name of the place, but its on the north eastern side of the corner on 23rd street. I think it has a green awning.)

This looks really delicious, except on problem for 90+ degree weather: it requires 3 pots of boiling water. Any suggestions for how to better deal with the heat and still get to enjoy this dish??

I went to a Brazilian BBQ place once, having heard how awesome the whole experience was. I was looking forward to some beef, cut off the roast at the table and all the side dishes. Unfortunately, we arrived between lunch and dinner, and had to order something from the regular menu. I think I had a half decent chicken sandwich and fries or something. Real let down.

Hard to beat steak with a good chimichurri. Empanadas with chimichurri come in a close second. Buenos Aires home cooking can be a culinary adventure because of the cultural diversity of the city.
