Professional cook turned stay at home mom to 2 toddlers. Have a blog where I share cooking tips & recipes, both learned from years of work and also new experiences. I like a good cooking challenge and have a passion for anything made from scratch.
Coming from Israel, I couldn't be anything but a purist, hummus-wise. I like my hummus the arab way, that is, with a very thin texture, just a hint of lemon juice and garlic. But my favorite way to eat hummus is actually called "masabacha". It is a softer hummus, with a bit more tahini, served in a bowl with tender cooked chickpeas under and topped with good olive oil, srug (local spice), a whole boiled egg and chopped parsley. The dish is usually served warm with fresh pita to scoop it all up. Delish!
That looks like the most delicious way to make my kids eat carrots, first thing in the morning! Thanks for sharing! :D
So pretty! Nice job, macarons are notoriously hard to tackle and yours look perfect!
It looks like it's ready to pop! Yum! I'll give it a try this weekend! Thanks for sharing! :D
I have a small Krups espresso machine at home, nothing fancy. I have to load the coffee myself and all... but sometimes, I forget to add water to the tank and everything goes pruut pruut pruut after 3 drops of coffee. I have to stop the machine, add water and get it going again. Coffee doesn't come out with cream anymore and it just makes me maaaaad at myself. Big gripe. ;-)
I just bought a bottle of Fish Sauce called RazorClam (Brand) and though it actually smelled nice (though quite pungent), it is overly salty and I find myself using much less than I'd like to. Any one know this brand?
A nice chocolate ganache filling would be quite wonderful too! I actually love those swirls from the piping, it makes all the sense in calling them "meltways". Wonderful! :-)
This was entered for the Pi Day Bake-off :-)
I have encountered a recipe calling for kasoorimethi just some days ago, and although I skipped that ingredient altogether (with no ill effects), I found on wikipedia, that the closest substitute are fresh celery leaves.
Hope this helps! :-)
I love medjool dates, which there are plenty of, here in Israel. I think they also make such a great filling for hamantaschen! But since the most popular filling here is poppy seed, I get back to every year's ritual of making my own. This year, I added ground nuts and tried some cranberries, but really, nothing beats the natural sweetness of dates! Homemade, melt in the mouth hamantaschen with yummy sticky sweet medjool dates... Yum! If anyone is curious about how I prepare it, here's the recipe: http://tinyurl.com/yfywohj

I'm definitely a food souvenir person. If I got friends traveling, they always what would I like for a souvenir and the answer is obviously: food.
I travel once a year to Portugal and bring back with me cheese (Serra among others) and dried cod fish. I know my luggage has been checked but always passed. Seeing the custom's face upon opening my luggage must have been priceless. ^_^
