Taste Test: Wendy's New Fries

I love the new fries at Wendy's. In fact, I jusy ate some a few minutes ago (this being my third time eating them), which caused me to look on Serious Eats to see what others thought about them. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that so many didn't like them, but they are so good IMO that I thought for sure most would feel the same. The fact that some think BK is better, that others think McD is better or worse, that some like to dip fries in frostys/frosties, or that some even like frostys/frosties at all clearly show that we all have different preferences. Therefore, you cannot depend on others' critiques on food; you just to have to try them for yourself an
d form own your own opinion. That's all that matters for you. Again, I personally love the new fries, and that's the only opinion that counts for me.

How To Make Tortillas

I've owned the tinned cast-iron tortilladora or tortilla press for quite some time now, and I love it. It isn't good to use for flour tortillas unfortunately, but for corn tortillas, huaraches, or arepas, it is perfect and cheap. Great tutorial.

@janaatwg: I didn't know who he was until I read 5-second rule's entry. I still don't know much about him. That doesn't make me any less of a foodie or even a foodie outlier, though.

The simple thing Mom never made

Woah! Are we back in the 1950s?! Moms aren't the only possible cooks in the world. I know my mother didn't cook for me. She doesn't know how to cook, and she cannot stand being in the kitchen for more than 10 minutes at a time. I was thus raised on restaurants and leftover meals from these restaurants. I have made up for that by cooking at home quite frequently now.

My dad, on the other hand, was a great cook and enjoyed cooking. Unfortunately, I wasn't raised by him, so I didn't get to sample much of his cooking or any home-cooked meals as a child on a regular basis.

Let's not forget about other guardians (male and female) out there. Mothers aren't the only ones responsible for cooking and taking care of their children. :D

Frozen Puff Pastry Dough.

I've never heard "healthier" and "puff pastry" together in the same sentence before haha. However, you could always put veggies on top of the loads of yummy butter and dough. Enjoy your "healthy" dish!

Do Gals Eat Less When Guys Are Around?

Let's not forget that not all females are attracted to the opposite sex. I eat normally with guys because I'm not trying to impress them nor am I attracted to them. With a new woman I like, however, I tend to eat less. So, I don't think it's based on the opposite sex; it's based on how well you know the person AND/OR if your goal is to impress that person. That is closer to the reason than basing it on opposite sex.

I guess the writer of this post assumes only people with white or pale skin would be interested in this cruise. I could never look "white" at the beginning or end of a cruise. Last Ditch Attempt to Eat the Best of Austin

I highly disagree with most of the places listed with the exception of Clay Pit, Juan in a Million, Tiff's Treats, and Torchy's Tacos. If you have had a real (i.e., Philly) cheesesteak or even one from any other city in the northeast, you will NOT like Texadelphia. I have tried to like that place two times, and it just never happened. I've never tried Uchi, but I've heard a lot about it.

You should also go to Rudy's BBQ (they also have a new burger place on Brodie Lane), if you haven't. I like that place much more than Salt Lick (I was very disappointed with the bbq at SL). Good luck! You're lucky to have found a job! I cannot wait to graduate and leave Austin!! Congrats!
