Paula Deen's Food Lover's Cruise Set for January 2010
I guess the writer of this post assumes only people with white or pale skin would be interested in this cruise. I could never look "white" at the beginning or end of a cruise. While I'm perfectly happy with my skin color, I see a problem in assuming everyone on a cruise or this particular cruise is White.

Lovely, poignant story. Yummy rolls. Thank you.
Cook the Book: 'Tacos'
My memorable taco experience was in México where I received my first real taco al carbón. YUM!

Do Gals Eat Less When Guys Are Around?
Let's not forget that not all females are attracted to the opposite sex. I eat normally with guys because I'm not trying to impress them nor am I attracted to them. With a new woman I like, however, I tend to eat less. So, I don't think it's based on the opposite sex; it's based on how well you know the person AND/OR if your goal is to impress that person. That is closer to the reason than basing it on opposite sex.

Last Ditch Attempt to Eat the Best of Austin
I highly disagree with most of the places listed with the exception of Clay Pit, Juan in a Million, Tiff's Treats, and Torchy's Tacos. If you have had a real (i.e., Philly) cheesesteak or even one from any other city in the northeast, you will NOT like Texadelphia. I have tried to like that place two times, and it just never happened. I've never tried Uchi, but I've heard a lot about it.
You should also go to Rudy's BBQ (they also have a new burger place on Brodie Lane), if you haven't. I like that place much more than Salt Lick (I was very disappointed with the bbq at SL). Good luck! You're lucky to have found a job! I cannot wait to graduate and leave Austin!! Congrats!

Going to my stepmother's house for real down home food. My mom didn't know how to cook, and since she was a single parent, we ate out every day. I looked forward to eating the food my stepmother prepared during the summers when I would visit.

Pasta alla Carbonara is my favorite. I fortunately had my first taste of this yummy dish in Italy. I was so happy when I was able to recreate it at home. The one in Italy was still the best, though.

I don't have a ___ in my kitchen and I don't want one.
I don't have a microplane grater, and I don't want one. I don't understand why people love this gadget so much. I rarely need to zest anything (It's just for zesting, isn't it?) I just don't understand why people act as if it were the best thing ever when it serves basically only one purpose...and a minor one at that. A cheese grater is a fine substitution in a pinch. IMHO...

Sunday Brunch: The Greatest Waffle Recipe Ever
Really good recipe, liked crispness and light consistency. However found it lacked flavour, added vanilla extract. What a difference, with vanilla extract, this recipe is requested over and over. Also, great to reheat, in toaster at work. Will make again and again
Paula Deen's Food Lover's Cruise Set for January 2010
Goodness some of you people are just plain mean. Just because someone likes to cook doesn't mean that they are obese. It actually sounds more like jealousy which is an ugly facet to someone's personality. If you don't like where you are in life then do something to change it don't beat on others it only makes you look small. I am not fat but I would rather be fat than mean.
First Look at the New Yankee Stadium Food
I recently did 1st visit to pro baseball last month to new Yankee Stadium. Carl's philly steak w/ cheezwhiz was fantastic, luckily took advice that I would not have room for fries. I've spent $20 on far worse than one of them babies and a beer in my time. If any AA members are reading, screw the meetings "Hi, I'm Adam, I'm an alcoholic, and my wife Eve is addicted to apples." (or something like that) At $9 a beer, recovery comes quickly. I wasn't even driving, legally could have though. Dinner at Hard Rock next time, not just a t-shirt and a draft...

WOW, THIS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE INA GARTEN'S RECIPE [MINUS THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS].............HMMMMMMMMM. ALTHOUGH INA HAS A SECOND HOME IN PARIS & FAVORS A LOT OF FRENCH COOKING, SHE EXPRESSED THAT THIS WAS HER .......ROLLED UP PUFF PASTRY/MUFFIN TIN.............IDEA?
IN ANY EVENT, I HAVE MADE ONLY HALF A RECIPE USING HER DIRECTIONS BECAUSE I JUST KNEW MY HUSBAND & I WOULD EAT THEM ALL............I WAS RIGHT THEY ARE WAY TO GOOD!

@revandrants: Absolutely--go ahead and make them ahead. Just be sure to keep the cold in the fridge until you need them. That will give them the must puffing power.
French in a Flash: Pain au Chocolat Cinnamon Rolls with Crème Fraîche Icing and Walnuts
What a good lookin pastry. I can't wait to give this a whirl. It seems like something that can be made ahead. Anyone know if there would be any problems if the rolls were made ahead and then popped in the oven while dinner was being eaten?
French in a Flash: Pain au Chocolat Cinnamon Rolls with Crème Fraîche Icing and Walnuts
I know what it's like to feel caught in the middle like that! I am not nearly as confused as you were when you were a child, but I have my own problems (and delightful crossovers) between being American and becoming French.

We were visiting the West Coast when we first came across Fish Tacos. Being from the Midwest (and this was a long time ago) we'd never heard of them and were quite leery of trying them. After some serious nudging from local friends, we broke down and gave them a try - and WOW! We've been practically addicted ever since!
