Rocco DiSpirito: Misunderstood Chef of the People or Megalomaniacal Celebrity?
Great write-up Thomas_traveler...
Donnamarie... by the way... Rocco was on Food Network long before the current Food Network personalities were ever on there.
Anyhow- you'd be surprised by how much time your favorite chefs actually do spend in the kitchen. A chef that actually has the personality to talk to their guests, should.
Rocco DiSpirito: Misunderstood Chef of the People or Megalomaniacal Celebrity?
Wow- at least if Rocco DID open a restaurant, he would know that all of you haters or lovers would be customers. He's one of the nicest, most talented guys in the food world. Of course he has an ego, what chef doesn't?!? You have to have some form of an ego when you're competing with 945,000 other restaurants in this country. So do the thousands of investment bankers that walk around NYC- guess what? If investment bankers were on a reality show flaunting their money and skills, they would have even bigger egos too. Is it bad that Rocco wants to get in and teach to mainstream America- I don't think so- I actually think more people should do that.
Bobby's Burger Palace
I can see where you may have been underwhlemed, but I have to slightly disagree with this post. I went to BBP with a friend. We got the Napa Valley Burger, Dallas Burger, CrunchBurger, fries, onion rings, chips with Blue Cheese sauce (which you did not mention), a coconut shake and a pistachio shake. I'll be happy to send my pictures- they look like they are out of a magazine. Food was good, not great. Shake Shack's burger is still my #1- lock. The pistachio shake was insane. Give it another shot. Your burger did look like it got sat on, but I'm telling you, they could not have made my burger look any more pretty.

FYI... I grew up on Shamrock Shakes in the great city of Chicago. To the person who thinks this is an inappropriate topic for SE'ers... you clearly have not had one. You probably don't know that an Egg McMuffin is one of the best breakfast sandwiches ever made either.
I moved from Chicago to Miami and also got nasty looks when asking for a Shamrock Shake. I thought it was a the norm come March. I then moved to NY where they don't have them either.
I'm going to give you a little tip to quench your taste buds that I discovered when I was craving one...., but it sure isn't a Shamrock Shake......
Go to your local Starbuck's and order a green tea frapaccino (no whipped cream)- have them add mint flavoring. The green tint and the mint is all you need to appreciate a Shamrock Shake if you cannot have one this St. Patrick's Day season. I know what I'm having today.
