AOL Cityguide: 13 Perfect Pizzas Across America

I grew up at the Jersey shore and personally I never really cared for Vic's pizza. Pete & Elda's is MUCH better! Tacconelli's is the most overrated pizza place ever. You actually have to call them ahead of time to reserve your dough. Ridiculous! My brother, aunt and I had to try it to see what all the hype was about and were extremely disappointed.

I have eaten at 6 of the 13, and this list was phoned in!

The originator of Chicago style pizza himself said that he wanted his "pizza" to be substantial because he considered traditional pizza to be a "snack." So it's not the same as New York pizza. Sure you can lump the two together on a list but you're really ranking two different things. As far as the list, I've eaten at Grimaldi's in Tucson and NY and John's. There are better pizza's than these (Lombardi's is the best imo) but they are sublimely good pizza even though Grimaldi's is not exactly my taste.

I RARELY take the time to comment on stuff like this, and I've certainly never made a negative comment before.

But seeing "Windy City Pizza" on this list gave me such a sickly visceral reaction, I just couldn't close the page without saying that this may literally be THE worst pizza we've had.

Yes, as a born and bred New Yorker from the Bronx, I may be a pizza snob. But... my wife's from the UK and my kids are Floridians, and ALL of them took one bite of the coldest pizza we've ever had, and then spit it out.

Rest assured, when two teenaged boys tell you something is awful, it really and truly is awful. Stay away from this place if you have ever had any kind of decent pizza in your life.

Better to eat something frozen out of the supermarket, or even Dominoes.

O.K., now I feel much better.

Carry on.
