Fojol Bros is the bee's knees, I was hoping they would get a profile on seriouseats, which is also the bee's knees!
Burger Nirvana at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago
Holy crap, that looks amazing. I need to find an excuse to go to Chicago, and soon.
The Best in the West: A Rib Sampler
Damn, that looks like a great festival, those ribs look amazing. I can definitely see how you would have trouble only eating two from each pit!

How do you eat 10 courses?
If 10 makes you nervous, come on up to DC for Minibar's 29 course tasting menu! Most of the courses are just a bite or two, but that's still a lot of courses. Damn good though.

All Your Bagel Questions Answered
Many aficionados consider Montreal bagels to be the best, actually. I've had both, and Quebec's finest are indeed amazing although a little different. I like both, although I'm a little biased towards NYC.
Cook the Book: 'Big Bob Gibson's BBQ Book'
My dad and I were planning a baseball trip over a summer, and we wanted to fit as many games into two weeks as possible. We just couldn't make a doable schedule that had the Royals in town, unfortunately. We finally decided, baseball be damned, we were going anyway. We flew in, had a platter with everything at Arthur Bryant's , then made our way over to Gates for burnt tips as lunch #2. The trip had us at 13 baseball games and eating in some fine places, but nothing could touch the smoked sausage at Arthur Bryant's.
Limited Edition Strawberried Peanut Butter and Coconut M&Ms
I agree with missbhavens up there. The peanut butter jelly ones were weird and did not go down well, I thought. I like the coconut ones, though.
Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 80: Remembering Our Serious Eater Beagle Brass
Great stories, Ed. My dog Trixie was a serious eater. She loved vegetables, which is funny for a dog, and was frequently seen stealing cherry tomatoes from the garden. She loved her meat too, but she had a pretty balance scrap food diet.
We knew it was her time to go when she stopped eating, and not even a prime piece of fat from a steak could tempt her.

Meat Lite: Penne with Bacon and Raw Tomato Sauce
This sounds easy and delicious. I think I'll pick up some tomatoes from my local market this weekend and give it a shot. Thanks!
Hamburger America: Casino El Camino in Austin
Yeah, 90/10 over a flame sounds dangerous to me, but looks like they know what they're doing. Sounds like a fun place to hang out, too.
Serious Heat: Culinary Russian Roulette with Padron Chiles
I ate these for the first time last year, and they were delicious. I split them with a bunch of other people and said I liked that some of them were spicy. They looked at me like I was nuts, now I know why - I must have just gotten lucky (or unlucky, depending on your view of spice).
Great Cheeseburgers at La Grande Orange in Santa Monica, California
If a measure of a review's quality is how hungry it makes you, then this is near the top. Wow, does that look good.
Meat Lite: Bacon Chipotle Slather Sauce
This sounds great, I'm going to try it on burgers next time I hit the beach. Thanks!
Hoagie Haven in Princeton, NJ: Phat Ladies, Chocolate Cheesesteaks, and Happy Undergrads
Oh man, I just ate and that made me hungry all over again. I tried a Fat Darrell at a grease truck a few years ago, but this place looks even better.
Serious Cocktails: Speakeasies Get Their Second Wind
Ig - spot on. PX is fantastic and not overly pretentious, it's just a place to get imaginative cocktails made with care.
The Gibson, on U St in DC, doesn't quite get it. It's more just an expensive bar that doesn't have a sign.
Travel + Leisure on America's Best Burgers
I'm going to check out Kemble Park Tavern's burger in the hopes that it's good, but it would surprise me if it's the best. People here will disagree about which is the best burger, but I've never even heard it mentioned in the top 5. Interesting.
Where to Get a Fatty Melt in Portland, Oregon
I couldn't order it just based on the terrible lolcats name. Hooboy.
Serious Cocktails: Ladies Night
Gina Chersevani at PS7s in DC (and formerly of Eatbar in VA) is amazing and makes some of my favorite drinks in the city. They always suit the season and taste great.
An Evening with Paulie Gee, Pizza Madman
Looks fantastic, and the oven in your backyard is very impressive. You obviously know your stuff.

I know, right? And that site Slice, all they do is talk about pizza!

@xwafflesx-I do the same thing.
How do you eat 10 courses?
One of the most fun and memorable meals I ever had was the dinner at a traditional Chinese wedding. I forget how many courses are served - well over 20, but all the portions were small, and some presented on the same plate - most were just a few bites. The constantly changing plates helped pace the meal appropriately. Particularly memorable was a dragon & phoenix crafted from multiple ingredients and dishes, but everything was delicious, and everyone had such a good time tasting and enjoying the constantly changing plates. At the end, I was certainly stuffed, but not at all unpleasantly so.
So enjoy the dinner! There's probably no need to starve yourself,

all because a bunch of dagos (I'm one, so I guess its "ok" for me to say it....but OMG if someone ELSE says it!!!!!!!!!!)
I don't understand this comment. If a non-Italian starts calling Italians "dagos," is it ok if he says he's only joking? That doesn't make any sense. The reality is that you can say a lot of stuff about your own ethnic or religious group that someone outside your group can't. I don't think that's unfair or unreasonable.
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
Oh my God........PLEASE! Enough of this krap. Its a joke....it ONLY becomes serious if people TAKE it seriously.
Reminds me how the director of the Godfather had to release a statement that the movie didn't represent any one ethnic group..................huh? Italian names, Italian and sicilian speaking..............all because a bunch of dagos (I'm one, so I guess its "ok" for me to say it....but OMG if someone ELSE says it!!!!!!!!!!) decided that EVERYONE in the world will think all Italians are made.
Please, stop.

I was also shocked when this showed up in my feed-reader: "dingo"? Randomly chosen headgear? Not funny. Not even clever. Just unpleasant, and I won't be patronizing them anytime soon.

RPS and the rest of them are well known kabob dealers. It distateful, but it appears that the Merlindian's competitors have launched an astroturf campaign against the Fojols. Is there no limits to how low those goons will stoop?
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
As a Merlindian-American I have no problem with what they are doing.

You people are ridiculous. Stop taking yourselves so seriously and have a little fun with it. I, for one, applaud their concept for being fresh and whimsical (take a look at their website) and will be eating at their truck when I am in DC next month.
For those of you looking to flame me, you can begin now.
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
I'm not easily offended, but this is distasteful. I don't think this would be taken lightly if the proprietors were selling Southern food or Chinese food with accompanying ethnic stereotypes, and this isn't any different at all. It's even less appealing (if possible) considering the violence and discrimination that the Roma suffer in Europe.
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
agreed with rps. They are using the steotypes as a gimmick. I live in DC but I haven't ate their food yet so verdict is out on that. I've heard from DC foodie sites that they hire indian chefs to cook the food, the brothers and sisters are just the servers/drivers.
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
I'm Jewish, and if a bunch of non-Jews were selling matzoh ball soup and corned beef while calling themselves "Moishe" and "Abe" and wearing black hats with fake beards, I'd be a little pissed. I have no problem with them selling Indian food (or non-Jews selling matzoh ball soup) -- hell, my fantasy is to open a little shop selling banh mi -- but the costumes and names are off-putting to say the least.
Street Food Profiles: Fojol Bros. of Merlindia in Washington, D.C.
Thank you rps... I find it completely offensive and off putting. If others don't see why, then that makes it even sadder.

Do the fake names and turbans bother anyone else, or am I being overly sensitive and PC?

I wish I was still in D.C., I would follow this truck wherever it goes.
Burger Nirvana at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago
Truffle fries, give me strength.
Burger looks awesome, though. I don't think I've ever seen a 40-day aged burger.
Almost got through a whole review without a ketchup jab, maybe next time :)

OMG, true food porn! Gotta get to one of these cook-offs.

Chicago has gotten quite the amount of attention from SE lately! Yay! I've been to David Burke's Primehouse but only during restaurant week and haven't tried the burger - I had some delicious kobe beef carpaccio though!

@ratbuddy: I didn't get a good pic of the skins, but I can back up Daniel by saying...THEY WERE SO GOOOOD.

Wow.
Got any pics of the potato skins?
Burger Nirvana at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago
I've had this excellent burger several times, and last Friday tried it for the first time with cheddar cheese. I too had always feared that cheese might get in the way, but I found that was not the case. I don't know that I would say it made it better, but it definitely didn't make it any worse.
One thing that always amazes me about the Burke's Primehouse burger is the proportions of the toppings: they're perfect. It's not over-dressed, like so many burgers at fancy restaurants, and the toppings are well chosen and very complimentary. There's enough there to taste & enhance, but they never detract from the beef. I found it was the same case with the cheese, when I finally got around to adding it.
Not only do they offer the asiago-truffle skins and skin-on fries, but also a "best of both worlds" asiago-truffle fries. I prefer those to the skins, but have not tried the skin-on fries.
Also worth mentioning is the Burke's Primehouse vanilla-bourbon milkshake. It's amazing, and the balance I appreciate in the burgers so much is present here too, with neither the vanilla nor the bourbon overwhelming each other. So good.
The Best in the West: A Rib Sampler
Excellent story and event. Makes me wonder if any of those great smokers learned from the paragon of pits, E.D. "I'll tell you when their ready" Thompson from East Texas? Again, huge atta-boys and atta-girls for all who made that gathering a huge hit.
