Simple, No-Frills Pumpkin Pie
I just posted a Caramel-Pumpkin-Toffee pie on my blog that would fit just perfectly. It sounds really fancy, and tastes really fancy, but I would still consider it a "no-frills" pumpkin pie. It's a recipe from Christmas with Southern Living. I just made 16 of these pies last week- they are really easy to make and not overly time consuming.

What's cooking for Thanksgiving
Last week I experimented with Jamie Oliver's roasted stuffed turkey. While I didn't care for the turkey itself, the stuffing used was incredible! It's not a traditional cornbread stuffing so I wouldn't consider it a replacement for that kind of stuffing, but more of a 'condiment' for the bird.
I plan on brining a turkey and stuffing it with Jamie's stuffing. I'll have to have the traditional stuffing as well and the usual green bean casserole for the picky family members. Due to popular demand, I'll also have to make more of the caramel pumpkin pie that I just made 16 of last week. I better start cooking!

God forbid you ever try to pass of breakfast foods for any meal past 11am. I have been adamantly against breakfast for most of my life unless it entails the leftover delicacies of a past dinner. In today's world I don't have the time to prepare a hot, savory breakfast that would suit my taste, so I have been subjugated to the lousy, processed garbage that all to often serves as American breakfast. I do however enjoy warm savory breakfast classics like biscuits with sausage gravy or a good bowl of grits (who would ever guess I was born and still live in NJ). But until I can somehow find the time and energy to prepare these kinds of dishes in the mornings, my hatred for breakfast will continue.

Breakfast is necessary, and should be delicious!
I love the full English or Irish breakfast (particularly the blood pudding), but unfortunately that doesn't work for every day. I try to have a fry-up breakfast only once a week, usually on Saturday or Sunday. This week it was Mexican sausage with scrambled egg and cheese on a tortilla.
Mostly, though, I try to mix up my breakfast with either oatmeal, cereal, or fruit.
The constant, though, is that I need good (and strong) coffee.

Never used to do a traditional breakfast until I was 30. I was a diet coke and do-nettes type of a girl. My first date with my current BF changed all that. He introduced me to the wonderful world of breakfast foods. Weekdays are on the "diet" side of life and weekends are NOT. We go out to eat breakfast most weekends and depending on the time of day, I will have a traditional breakfast with eggs or if its after 10:30, I go for the lunch menu. It shocks my mom since I would not come near breakfast food growing up...

As the owners of a Bed and Breakfast in the Texas HIll Country at Fredericksburg, I would say we are 100% pro breakfast. We prepare a four course breakfast each morning and deliver it to our guests on silver trays. Whether the main course is eggs scrambled with cream cheese and herbs on a bed of vegetable hash with turkey sausages or our Santa Fe eggs (a stacked breakfast enchilada with mild chiles, cheese, cream, chicken and an egg baked on top) we also include a fruit dish and fresh baked pastries. We are so committed to breakfast that we created our own full color cookbook "Breakfast on a Silver Tray" so that others might start the day as our guests do.

Weekday breakfasts are quick; usually just toast and peanut butter with a cup of coffee or can of Diet Pepsi (yeah, I like my caffeine carbonated, thank you!).
But weekends were made for big, leisurely breakfasts at my favourite diner. Their breakfast burrito (the size of a football!) and homefries smothered in cheese curds and hollandaise sauce (oh mouth-gasm!) is one of my favourites.
A bagel breakfast feast is also another popular one. 2 or 3 type of bagels with a variety of cream cheeses and bottomless cups of coffee.

very interesting observations you've made about breakfast...
Breakfast is the worst meal of the day for me because 1) I won't get up early enough to cook at home so it has to be something I can eat on the go, or reheat at work; 2) subscribing to a low-carb diet has eliminated EVERY SINGLE traditional breakfast item I used to eat (including the non-traditional chocolate cake); and 3) I hate eggs. Unless they are in the chocolate cake, of course.
I am hungry 24/7 so I always eat SOMETHING prior to 10 a.m. I end up in the boring habit category by chowing down an Atkins bar and a Diet Coke most days. Today was different: I reheated mahi mahi with a bell pepper salsa from dinner last night. Thanks goodness for dinner leftovers.

I MUST have breakfast within one hour of waking up. During the work-week I eat healthy breakfasts - fresh fruit with a little soy milk, some whey protein, a sprinkling of oats & flaxseeds. Sometimes on the weekend we'll go all out and enjoy bacon & eggs with spinach & cheese. Occasionally, we'll have something very indulgent like cranberry bread french toast or corn meal pancakes. And when we travel and eat out for breakfast, all bets are off! Bring on the grits, steak & eggs, pancakes, lobster eggs benedict, etc. I'm fairly certain that breakfast must be served in heaven. :)

Favorite and most delicious meal of the day. Fact. I love hot buttery bagels, a cup of coffee, and some sliced fruit. And sometimes I love warmed rice with scrambled eggs mixed in and ketchup. Oatmeal, yum. Granola, yogurt, and honey.
Usually though my breakfast needs at least a little salt in it, and it always needs a cup of black coffee. Quiet and a book/newspaper rounds it out.

I'm a total breakfastophile. I wake up and plan what I'm going to have for breakfast in the shower; it's typically cereal with a banana, oatmeal, or toast and yogurt. I've also been known to cook up omelettes, egg sandwiches on English muffins, pancakes, and muffins for quick lunches or dinners; I could eat breakfast food all day! My mom once joked that for my wedding, I should have breakfast food served instead of a traditional dinner ... I'm still considering it!

Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day, not only because it's delicious but because it's bonding time with my family. So I really look forward to the weekends when I can do it right--spinach & cheese omelettes, birds in a nest, french toast, hash browns & eggs.... the list goes on. I always eat breakfast during the week too, since I wake up starved (breastfeeding & therefore still eating for 2), but it's cereal & yogurt or boiled eggs & whole wheat toast instead. And my one cup of coffee, or you do not want to be within 10 feet of me.

I've never been a breakfast person. Growing up I used to have a piece of buttered toast with a glass of milk with a little coffee in it.
For the past couple of decades I just have 5-6 cups of coffee for breakfast.

I love breakfast, but like many others, I tend to rush it during the week - I grab a coffee and some fruit, and cross my fingers I get to finish it all before work gets crazy.
I'm actually not much of a lunch person. I almost never eat a real meal for lunch, instead I nibble while doing other things. (That goes for weekdays and weekends alike.)
As for dinner, I like to sit down to eat leisurely. Most of the time, though, I eat breakfast foods.

I always ate breakfast as a kid, but almost never as an adult. Now that I'm working, it's kind of a trade-off between breakfast and shower/makeup/dressing. I think my coworkers would rather I skip breakfast. =)
I used to keep a box of meal replacement bars in my desk but I ran out. I'm not much for the sweet breakfast thing, and I'm not a big fan of eggs.
My office has free coffee, so that's pretty much breakfast these days. On the weekends I will occasionally eat breakfast, usually hot cereal of some type (cream of wheat, Kashi hot cereal). I'm more of a brunch fan (casseroles with cheese and bacon).
If I had a bigger food budget and there was a bagel place on the way to my office, life would be different... =)

Generally, I am not a breakfast fan. I'm not a coffee person--I like the taste but it really messes with my stomach--so I get my caffeine from a Diet Pepsi instead. Then about two hours later I might have something to eat. It must be savory--not sweet. Cottage cheese, leftover homemade roll from the night before (usually not around because the kids scarfed them down), maybe an egg or cold pizza. No doughnuts, french toast or pancakes please.

Here's what I do for breakfast each day: Eat a spoonfull of nutella mixed with chunky peanut butter, dipped in a jar of chocolate sprinkles. Wait for a few minutes to let the sugar rush kick in. Ready to start the day.

My favorite winter breakfast is capellini with mushroom jar sauce.
I know it sounds weird...but measure out 2 oz. of capellini (TJ's)...spoon about 2 tbsp. of jar sauce (your choice) into the bottom of a bowl...cook pasta for 1 min. in a small pan of boiling water...drain...plunk into the sauce...nuke for 1 min. to let the pasta absorb the sauce...then top with grated parm-romano (TJ's - keep in the freezer).
You start the day feeling warm and well-loved in less than 5 min.!

@ punkin712.... I never blind bake my crust and always follow the start-at-high-switch-to-lower-temp directions. Also, watch the edges of your crust. If they start to get over-browned before your custard (that's all pumpkin pie is, right?) is set, use foil strips to cover and protect.

This is what you do: The can on libby's pumpkin. It has THE pumpkin pie recipie. I have been making it myself since I was 13. Never messes up. And if you dont want to worry about the crust, just go premade. SERIOUSLY! there is nothing to worry about!
(and if you want to make it look really nice, cut little leaves out of pie crust to decorate it)

i am a lover of breakfast-- sometimes it's what gets me out of bed! i get up at least an hour and a half before i have to leave home just to make sure i get enough time to make a pot of coffee, some breakfast, and have time to enjoy it. this morning? whole wheat pumpkin pancakes topped with a sliced banana, peanut butter and pumpkin butter. no lunch food can compare!
