In Love with Hershey's Candy Cane Kisses

My daughter is totally addicted to the Candy Cane Kisses. Last summer she begged me to buy her a bag off eBay... for TEN DOLLARS!! Plus shipping!! I told her she could wait until they came back to the stores. Now I'm planning on buying about five bags and hiding them somewhere so I can spring them on her throughout the year.

Genever, An Old-School Gin That's Hot Again

Ahh, Bols Genever... I loved the classic earthenware cylindrical bottle, and the traditional way of pouring (put the glass on the counter and pour until the meniscus rises above the lip, then sllllurrp). I used to keep the bottle in the freezer. I was dismayed when it was no longer available; this is great news that it's coming back. Are they still going to use the original bottle? Also, I wonder if anyone remembers a vile concoction from Bols called "Parfait Amour" -- it was a vivid purple and tasted vaguely of oranges.

Oh, that's a toughie. Depends on the circumstances. Stilton is a perennial favorite, but I also love Leiden cheese, and cubes of Gruyere are great for snacking. A current favorite is Cambozola.

In Love with Hershey's Candy Cane Kisses

A friend of mine gave me some candied pretzels made with the candy cane kisses, & they are awesome. She said you place candy on baking sheet at 250 for about five minutes, then just press pretzels into the softened candy. She had found a bag of pretzels that were trees, stars, & other christmas shapes. Not only were they very pretty, but delicious!
