Cook the Book: Welsh Rarebit
Tea and Sympathy in NYC makes the most voluptuous welsh rarebit. It's just to die for.
What are your favorite products from Trader Joe's?
Chanterelle, I just tried those gorgonzola crackers this morning - they're to die for! They have some sort of barley, whole grain rice cracker concoction that I love, too.
Food as an Expression of British Class Warfare
I think there is an interesting divide in the US over what is and isn't a "nice" dinner. To some it's surf and turf and you pick a soup or salad and how you'd like your potato done. To others, the emphasis is on local, fresh ingredients and... well, I don't know how to define it, but I think many Serious Eats readers would have the same vision. I'm not sure if that's a white collar/ blue collar divide, or an urban/suburban/rural divide.

I can't believe I just read this. I just got back from visiting my family on the east coast, and all of them were reminiscing about the days of chicken in a can! All of them are home cooks, usually everything from scratch, and yet all of them swore that chicken in a can was delicious and talking about how much they missed it. It sure looks like it sounds, though.
