He's abrasive, overbearing, too entertained with himself, and does the same thing over and over again. Every time my father sees him stuffing his face on Diners, he asks, "That guy is still alive?"
I thought the show was entertaining at first, but now he's just plain annoying.

I agree that he just comes off as a douche. Cocky and arrogant. Sure, he can obviously cook, but I agree that he does seem to be a one-trick pony.
I met him too and he was similar to his television personality- standoffish and generally acting as if he were too good.

American Obesity and the Health Halo Syndrome

I think that those of us who work with food and/or nutrition have a greater understanding and appreciation for real food and ingredients. Sadly, the average American has very little understanding of nutrition. A large part of the problem, I believe, is that people are bombarding with very mixed messages about what is healthy. There seems to constantly be a new and easier way to lose the weight without really trying. For most of us, it comes down to portion control and exercise. The less processed the food is the better. However, it is important to remember that everyone has different health issues and nutritional needs, and there is even a place for tofu cheesecake for some people out there.
