Speaking as a New Yorker whose corner deli does NOT make any egg sandwiches (and there is no other deli nearby), I was happy to have the Starbucks version around. Especially on tough deadline mornings when having something hot to eat instead of a sugary pastry helped a lot. They weren't pretty perhaps, but they tasted good.
I rotate three choices:
1) peanut butter on multigrain toast
2) salmon salad (Whole Food's... no mayo) on lavosh crackers
3 egg sandwich using Trader Joe's multigrain English muffin... delish!
And always a huge cuppa tea... Lyon's from Ireland.
Marinara Sauce.... unbelievably good; I was incredulous it was only 99 cents!
Their whole grain English muffins... flavorful. Makes a fantastic egg sandwich.

And the flowers really do seem to last a long time. Beautiful and affordable.
Make sure the sink is empty of dishes. You don't want to dump boiling pasta water on top of Grandma's delicate teacups!
Problem is, there is no deli around me in Soho that does egg sandwiches. Even the great little deli in our own building doesn't do them! I'd have to walk 6 blocks to find one. I don't get the weird void of egg sandwiches around here... you can find designer bags but no breakfast. Starbucks actually offers *something* so for that I'm grateful. On a cold morning, I'll take a mediocre breakfast sandwich over none at all.
Famous Ben's is awful! Their slice is so doughy and bland I can't bear it - and they're right down the street from me! I go up to Pizza Box on Bleeker for a slice instead. Or DeMarco's if I'm feeing extra lazy and rich :)
It's such a shame Arturo's doesn't have a little window for slices opening onto the street, right there in the back. It's the closest place to me and walking past that heavenly smell is torture, knowing I can't buy a slice!
I am sooo sorry I missed the opportunity for an egg cream. Yeah I can make 'em at home but it would have been fun to indulge publicly with other fanatics.
The chocolate!! I can't go back to the grainy, cloyingly sweet Hersheys stuff anymore; I can't afford to buy only high-quality imported European brand names, what's a girl to do? TJ's has some of the best store-branded chocolate, most coming from Belgium, for only a bit more than generic American chocolate. :) Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!
Anyone know where one might buy a butterscotch pie in NYC or the environs?

Hmm, I just had one the other day. Looks like they're a little slow on the discontinue. I agree that I enjoyed having a breakfast option other than a sugary pastry or overpriced fruit.
I saw on JuliB.com that Starbucks is now selling liqueurs.... maybe they decided there's a bigger market for liquor than for breakfast sandwiches.
I never visit Starbuck's. I think they're overpriced and overrated. Hell, I didn't even know they served breakfast sandwiches to begin with!!
You have until Monday! Stock up! Freeze 'em!
I hate to admit it, but for the price, I really liked those li'l' breakfast sandwiches. I'll be sad to see them go.
I liked the sandwiches. It was nice to have a food option that wasn't 100% carbs and sugar - a little protein and even a few spinach leaves were nice. (And yes, they seemed to be very popular at the NW DC branch I frequented).

Hey Adam, I see a Serious Eats breakfast sandwich taste-off in your stars.. Dunkin vs. MacDo vs. Burger King vs. Wendys. Apparently Subway has one too. That's a lotta liquid egg.
I thought the sandwich was pretty bad.
They would nuke the poor thing. It became very mushy.
