Hi all,

I'd like to thank James for taking the time to review TerraBurger. We are always eager to hear feedback about how we're doing, and what areas we can improve.

So, I hear what you're saying in regards to the texture of the burgers, and we will get on the problem immediately. If anyone has any specific suggestions, please contact us at info@terraburgeraustin.com. I'd like to invite you back in a couple of weeks, so you can gauge our improvement for yourself.

I'm glad to hear we're doing well in the other departments! Hope to see you back at TerraBurger :-)

I concur with the dry burger comments here. I went to the second location on 183 and experienced a very disappointing dry burger and soggy fries. Details and photos here: http://auslunch.com/restaurants/TerraBurger. It ain't cheap either.

Terraburger make a great burger. I have eaten there several times and never had a problem or seen anyone taking food back or complaining. The burger I had (terraburger) was hot and juicy, fries did not look anything like the picture this person took. How someone can put up a picture and use it for others to judge the restaurant is beyond me. When ever I hear someone recommend another burger place instead (usually P.Terrys for terraburger.. and they are not organic at all!) I get suspicious if their employees or friends are just trying to fradulent defame them. I am sure if you went to Terraburger or any other credible restaurant and the food was not up to your expectations they would give you a replacement or refund so you have nothing to loose! Trust me their food is great and I will be back again and again!

I should have added that Chowhound thread is a year old, before Mighty Fine, Mooyah, and Five Guys came along. I also advise anyone in Austin to try the burger that Nubian Queen Lola makes (http://www.nubianqueenlolas.com/lolasmenu.htm). Go early before she runs out of fries and expect to be there an hour 1/2 to 2 hours. She's the only employee and cooks everything from scratch.
Maudie's Tex-Mex and Fran's/Dan's aren't shabby either.

I think people have such different expectations about burgers (& Tex-mex). Some Austinites rave about P. Terry's (http://www.pterrys.com/), especially their fries. Which I found to be limp and flavorless. I still think the better burgers are from dive bars or country-type restaurants.

I've eaten at Terra Burger prob 3-4 times and I've never had one of their burgers that looked like that (dry). I will say that they have tended to be on the "weller" side than the "rarer" side, but mine have been juicy and good. You shoulda taken that one back!
I agree with the poster about the sweet potato fries being on the limp side, too--I get their regular fries and I think they're awesome, but in picking at my friends sweet potato fries last time I was there, they didn't have any snap to them. I'm not a real fan of sweet potato fries, though, so I can honestly say I've never had any that I really liked very much.

I stopped in TerraBurger today to review it for my blog, Tasty Touring.

Location: Not ideal. I avoid driving up the drag whenever possible as it's stop n go when school is in session and parking is a pain. However, they do have a dedicated lot in back.

Atmosphere: Bright, nice, lots of tables. The wait was not long to order, our food came up quickly, and the staff was extremely friendly.

Prices: The owner comped our meal but the prices are steep as has been written before -- my meal would have been around $10 for burger, fries, and a 9 oz. shake.

Burger: This burger was well-done and DRY -- no red in the meat at all. I was not given a choice about how I would like it cooked (but is that the law in TX?). The bread was too flaky and I didn't enjoy it. However the bacon and cheddar cheese were delicious.

Fries: We ordered sweet potato fries and regular fries -- all fresh cut and nicely salted with kosher salt. I really enjoyed the regular fries but the sweet potato version was limp -- a common issue. The ketchup was ok -- I always prefer Heintz to all-natural tomato ketchup.

Drinks: Applause for the Blue Sky All Organic soda fountain. Natanya said her soda was very tasty. I really enjoyed my small mint chip milk shake made with organic ice cream. At $2, it was pricey for what it was but I appreciate the portion and cost control.

Packaging and Operations: No cost was spared here and I appreciated the water saving dual flush toilets. They use corn-based compostable material to serve the food and drink but don't have a trash for all of that material so much of it gets mixed in with the regular landfill variety trash.

Overall: I don't think I would go back here unless I was with a friend who wanted to give it a shot. I'd like to try Five Guys and P Terry's as I have heard both are good.

For now, when I'm looking for my burger and fry fix, I'm headed to Roaring Fork or Woodland.
