2nd on the sea cucumbers. But I could probably be talked into almost anything.

Has the whole chef-advertising thing finally gone too far?

It's getting crazy, but in this economy I cannot blame anyone for it. This one though makes me a bit sad: Ferran Adrià will be assisting Pepsi in creating "new snackable foods", from http://eater.com/archives/2011/06/16/pepsico-announces-new-partnership-with-ferran-adria.php

kale chip variations

For chips, I would try a miso soak and then a salt dip. Or...roast with balsamic, oo, and other sea veggies. You are lucky! xo

Well known cooking blogs contain many sheeple!

Have no idea which product or post you are talking about, but I will say this: Sadly, many bloggers are pushed into posting product reviews as the receive free product. They are supposed to disclose gifting, but many do not and have under the table affiliations. The team that I work with helps out talented chefs, and they do give us recipes and media content, but no actual product. Comments are always appreciated, and yes many people say "that sounds great, I need to try it!". I still like the fact that anyone actually read or looked at the post /recipe/video, and took the time to comment. There are so many food and recipe sites out there, it's very competitive. But I always also very much appreciate a healthy debate, or a critique or adaption suggestion of the recipes.

Soaking walnuts?

Soaking nuts and grains is a huge hippy trend right now in the Colorado and California mountain towns. Many of the people follow the Weston Price philosophy, which recommends soaking raw nuts and whole grains for many hours before eating. It's a lot of work I've heard, and perhaps the nutritional benefits are worth it, but I am not a big fan of anything raw. Unless sushi is on the agenda.

Ah never mind I posted before I saw the previous replies :)

Sous vide eggs question

It's interesting the difference that one degree F can make! I too have the same question as climbhighak though. Simply a challenging experiment?

Food Burnout

Monkii I get that way too. Usually I just eat out for a few days and then I feel inspired again. Sometimes it helps to make something completely new, especially if it is the thought of the usual rotation that bores you. Tomorrow morning I am going to try an avocado smoothie :)

Good luck with your garden!

'South Park' Takes on the Food Network

I just caught that episode yesterday, I watched it just for the brief Batali sighting. Pretty raunch and not really that funny, hoping that Trey and Matt aren't losing their mojo.

What treasured food do you wish you knew how to make?

For the life of me I cannot make an edible warm hollandaise sauce no matter how hard I try. I've given up. Also, haven't attempted yet but I'd love to be able to make a killer cochinita pibil.

Molto Mario reruns? This rocks, I need to find them!

Surprised that Galloping Gourmet reruns got released, I had heard previously that he was never going to allow them to be shown after a religion change...must have been an incorrect rumor.

Have Wasabi Root - now what?!

You are lucky, enjoy! Agree, just the microplane will be fine (best kitchen tool second only to tongs).

Introduce Yourself!

Hi there! I'm Heidi from Savory Tv. I grew up in Ann Arbor MI (Love Zingermans!), and now am living in beautiful Aspen Colorado.

I am huge fan of chefs and restaurant recipes, and am forever trying to recreate them at home. Lately I have been created some delicious nosh from Marcus Samuelsson's New Amercan Table cookbook.

My newest favorite condiment is truffle salt, which I sprinkle on everything, from eggs to mashers to popcorn.

Love his thread!
