What's Up With Eggo?
I just bought some eggo's yesterday, and was standing in front of the case for a while looking for the classic one, I was stunned by how many choices there were. I haven't had one yet, but might go pop one in the toaster now.

Proud Cooking Moments
I think it was my 2nd or 3rd time making homemade croissants. They just turned out perfectly and looked like something you would get out of a bakery and were even light and airy. Haven't been able to replicate it since then, but that's okay.
Table Manners III: Do you eat European or American-style...
If I am using a knife it is the Euro style for me, every now and then I try the American style just cannot do it. Not sure why either as I am the only one in my family who eats food that way.
Photo of the Day: Closed Sign
That's awesome, love the sign :)
Mentos 'Kissfight' Game
hahaha, what a silly game :)
Dinner Tonight: Marinated Tomatoes with Linguine
This sounds great, and perfect timing was just wondering what to have for dinner, thanks :)
Whats Your Banana IQ?
I saw some banana's at my local farmer's market a couple of weeks ago, was really close to buying some but at $2/lb. I said no, which was funny, b/c that isn't too bad, but they are always under a $1 at the store.

The OctoDog Hot Dog Converter, Reviewed
I made one of these for my nephew one time, used a paring knife, he loved, and well so did I :)
Indiana Jones Crisp-Mint M&Ms: Meh
I have been on the hunt for both the m&m's and snickers bar, but have not found them anywhere!! Will continue to search, hopefully I will find them this weekend. My husband thought it was quite funny last night as I was going to a few different stores looking for them
Grilling Smackdown: Lump Charcoal vs. Briquettes
I am all for briquettes, but mainly because the last time we had lump charcoal it firecraked, and little bits came out and landed right inbetween my toes, not fun.
Dinner Tonight: Pasta con la Verdura
Wow if it wasn't in the 90's today and in the triple digits later this week I would so try this it sounds delish :)
food processors anyone?
I have the 7 cup Cuisinart that was $100 on sale at Macys, it works great, I also have the small one which I love. But I must admit that if I can ifnd a really good price on the 11 or 14 cup one I would buy it.
Back to your question Cuisinart works really well and will last a long time, the 7 cup is a really good buy at $100 and is able to do most things with no problems.
Indiana Jones Eats Chocolate Cereal Before Raiding Temples
I think I have to go find this tonight, my husband LOVES Indiana Jones and is anxious to watch this.
And your right unarata who doesn't want to start their day with that image :)
Squirrel: The Eco-Friendly Meat du Jour?
hahaha thanks eatorama, wasn't sure if anyone was going to quote that fantastic line :)
In Videos: Crepes in 'Talladega Nights'
Too funny, I just watched this last night!! It was a silly movie, although off food topic, I loved that he named his sons Walker and Texas Ranger (T.R. for short).
Charcoal Grill or Gas Grill
We have both, the standard Weber charcoal grill and another gas grill. We use them both, charcoal mainly on the weekends, as it does take a bit longer to get going then the gas one.
Shipping wine from Europe?
I would think that the easiest way, if you are going to vineyards would be to have them ship it back for you. But I am not sure of state/fed laws to do so. I tried to ship wine to Europe to a colleague and I couldn't find anyway to do so. Try a google search on wine importers, you should be able to find out something, good luck :)
What did you have for dinner?
We had Hot and Spicy Beef over rice and green beans. The last time my husband made this was on our second date, he made it so hot that I thought I was going to die, this time it really wasn't spicy at all. So I think we will have to prepare again and find the happy medium between the two.
TV chefs and black pepper
No I do the same thing and have wondered about that as well. I always end up putting if not equal to salt then pretty close when I cook, but I also like pepper.
Blogwatch: Matt's Green Chile Cheeseburger
I do believe that there several other notable green chile cheeseburgers that I always look forward to when I travel through NM.
Buckhorn Tavern, (San Antonio Nm.), El Camino Restraunt (Socorro, NM.)
Both of these are on the way as you travel north through NM.
ENJOY!
Grilling Smackdown: Lump Charcoal vs. Briquettes
Briquettes or lump? I think it boils down to what you are cooking and for whom? If I want to grill up some hots dogs and burger meat, a few briquettes are fine. Briqs are cheaper, for me, cleaner and easier. If I am smoking brisket, sausages, tri-tip, or anything else that requires lots of love and perfection, I will use quality wood. I have found cheaper off-brand or store brand briqus require a lot of lighter fluid and don't give good flavor.
Serious Eats Gift Guide: Kitchen Essentials
These are great suggestions! I recently got a KitchenAid mixer for a friend's wedding and they love it! Since it's summer, if you're looking for some new grilling gear, check out: http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/06/elizabeth-karmels-grilling-tips.html
AmericanHunter.org has some great suggestions!
Dinner Tonight: Marinated Tomatoes with Linguine
I like cooking my tomatoes (preferably Roma) with the skins left on for better nutrition and fiber content. They cook out so that you can eat the sauces and you won't notice the skins.
Often, I buy my tomatoes out of the produce section that have been set aside by the market for quick clearance. These are usually tomatoes that are becoming too ripe to handle much fondling by customers and are perfect for sauces...the riper, the better!
Also, you can add other items to suit the dish and/or your taste, such as fresh mushrooms, diced bell peppers, oregano, and dashes of red wine.
After cooking for a more consistent sauce, puree your finished product. When cooking foods such as this, stews, soups, stroganoff, chili beans, I simply put it in the frig for a couple of days and let it sit....it allows the flavors to blend and I think, makes a better dish to serve.
These sauces are great and have super versitility.....They can be used for numerous dishes. Many great suggestions so far. I like using them as a base for stuffed bell peppers with brown rice, stuffed tomatoes, pastas, and other dishes.
Lastly, they freeze very well!!
Enjoy ---- The Bear side of the Pair
Have you ever bought anything off of an infomercial?
I love the "AS SEEN ON TV!!" crap!! I have the George Foreman (I've owned 3 of them), a Flowbee (since 1989!! I haven't had to wait an hour to get a bad haircut and pay $15 plus tip since 1989!), all sorts of stuff. I just bought the Smooth Away hair remover.
A lot of the stuff doesn't work or doesn't work AS ADVERTISED, but some of it does. The Flowbee is great, the George Foreman was great, the Pedi-Egg or whatever that is called works pretty good.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
@perkymac - Oh, how I wish to have those days back - No, menopause is far behind me - but still, I did love the telltale signs clip! Thanks for the laugh!
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I have a gas range and prefer it to electric.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
always had gas until 2 years ago. i hate my electric stove. the first time i used the oven my mit touched the element and burst into flames. freaked me out. thank god the sink is close. in the new house i'm going gas. the only thing i like about the electric is the self clean oven.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I grew up cooking on gas. Then I moved out of NY.
In Colorado I was forced to cook on electric due to the lack of natural gas available. OMG, was that ever miserable. No one cooks on glowing coils by choice. And just try to roast a pepper without gas burners!
In FL, same thing - Only electric available in most homes. BF had a glass cook top which was only slightly less obnoxious than the glowing coils.
Now we are in Atlanta and I'm thrilled to say, the new house has natural gas! In my Christmas card was an IOU for one of these. (Closing on the house is 1/9.) What do you think is the first thing I'm going to do?
Roast peppers on the burners.

SIGNS THAT YOU MIGHT BE EXPERIENCING MENOPAUSE
* You sell your home heating system at a yard sale. (Hot flashes)
* The person you sleep with complains about snow piling up on the bed. (Nightsweats)
* Your husband jokes that instead of buying a wood stove, he is using you to heat the family room this winter. Rather than just saying you are not amused, you shoot him. (Mood swings)
* You write post-it notes with your kid's names on them. (Memory loss)
* Your husband chirps, "Hi honey, I'm home." and you reply, "Well, if it isn't Ozzie f*cking Nelson". (Irritability)
* The phenobarbital dose that wiped out the Heaven's Gate Cult gives you four hours of decent rest. (Sleeplessness)
* You find Guacamole in your hair after a Mexican dinner. (Fatigue)
* You change your underwear after every sneeze. (Mild incontinence)
* You need Jaws Of Life to help you out of your car after returning home from an Italian restaurant. (Sudden weight gain)
Just sayin'..........*_*
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I grew up on electric, currently have gas, but prefer induction. Ever since I was pregnant several years back, the smell of gas ovens makes me nauseous. My father has had 2 induction stoves in the past 6 or so years -- he left the older induction stove when he sold the house I grew up in, and bought a new one when he moved into a condo.
It took a little getting used to, since I do not cook with oil, but I learned to love it. It's so easy to clean.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I would love a gas stove, but I had to get rid of mine because of the excessive heat it would generate in my small kitchen. I would have to open a window (even in the dead of Winter) but the window was situated such that it would make the flames flicker! If I was cooking a large meal and using all the burners, my face would be redder than a fire truck - so, I find my ceramic topped electric stove does a fine job and helps keep me cooler.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
Has to be gas...besides, that flame sure does come in handy when there are no matches around.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I also grew up with electric burners, but my grandparents had gas, and I used to be fascinated by it:-). While I never had a problem cooking on electric burners (nor did my Mum), ever since I started using gas (probably 12 years or so), I've been really enjoying it. It would probably be hard for me to go back to electric burners at this point. Now, induction cook top is something I'd really like to have.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I grew up with electric but have had gas for many years now. I much prefer gas. You can go from High to Simmer immediately. The only down side to it is super low heat, but I've circumvented that by using the grate of another burner on top of the one in use.
I spend a lot of time at a friend's house that has electric only. It's always a pain to cook because I can't gauge, by site, the temperature I'm cooking at, and my low isn't necessarily theirs.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I have such a small kitchen that removing the gas to go with a smooth top electric made so much more sense. I had a gas oven in college and never really liked the way that things turned out, but if I could (and if I had the money at the time of getting the new range) I would go duel- fuel. There's a kitchenaid range that has a gas cooktop with grates that go across the entire surface, which would really appeal to me since you could still set a bunch of stuff on top of it. Pout.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
gas all the way. i've never felt comfortable cooking on electric burners.
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I grew up with electric and we always wanted gas, but it wasn't really economically or physically feasible. Now, in my apartment, I have 2 gas burners which are FANTASTIC. I wish I had more but eh, I'd rather have 2 gas than 2 electric
Question of the Day: Gas, electric, other?
I have a dual fuel Dacor range that fits in the 30" space in my kitchen, and I love it. It also needs a diffuser to simmer at low temps, but the gas cooktop and electric (and convection) oven are super. It was a big transition from the barebones electric cheapo I had before, but I hope to never go back. There are newer models now made by a number of mfrs. that are cheaper; my range was the newest thing in 2003. I also love the new, more powerful hood needed with it--anytime you have more BTUs you need careful ventilation. I was tempted by one of the big 6-burners but they are space hogs, needed an even bigger hood, and realistically, I manage quite well with four burners and one oven, supplemented by the microwave oven and a dandy toaster/convection countertop oven.
Serious Eats Gift Guide: Kitchen Essentials
@Tactful, I've never had problems with the pasta attachments, either.
And I've got it all except the pepper mill (but I have others that I like, each filled with a different pepper), the fish spatula (looking for one I like -- that one looks good, though), and the book. I've got lotsa books. Wonder if I need that one in particular. Sigh. Time to look at the wishlist again before I email it to santa.
What's Up With Eggo?
I've enjoyed Eggo waffles, original and cinnamon, but it kills me that the commercials for those Bake Shop Swirls mention a mom's concern for nutrition.
What's Up With Eggo?
I like the multigrain waffles. But I think the ones I get are NutriGrain. Anyway, I craved those while I was pregnant, with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. They were a frequent breakfast item. Now that baby is here, I haven't had them since (maybe that has something to do with the extra 20 lbs I'm still trying to lose?).
What's Up With Eggo?
You neglect to mention my favorite of the Eggo line, the mini-cinnamon toasts. Oh so Good. And please don't hate on the french toast sticks.
As far as the basics go, they were most excellent in that maple breakfast casserole you posted a month or so ago. :)
What's Up With Eggo?
The pancakes are at least seven years old - I used to eat them in high school, even though they're not nearly as good as real pancakes (or even Eggo waffles).
The multigrain waffles are pretty good. Stick to the basics, Eggo.
