Lunch in Santa Fe

strong, black and very hot
I drip my coffee in a Chemex as I have done for 35 years, then I pour it into a handthrown mug, using the same mug daily until it breaks and I suffer thru a replacement until it in turns becomes 'irreplaceable', The coffee itself is usually Ethiopian, freshly ground. I always drink it Black. Can't wait until morning!!!
Delfina Pizzeria, Tartine Bakery, Bi-Rite Creamery, Mission area for Tacos, Ferry Building on Saturday for huge choices outside, very crowded but also very cool. Spendy Night........Range. Great burger at Monk's Kettle. If you wander you will eat well and for cheap.
Frozen Pizza that was yummy, and a crisp green salad tossed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
the Range, Tartine, Pizza Delfina, Farmers Market on Saturday
While I was chef at a Taos restaurant a customer chewed and partially swallowed a hair which we all assumed belonged to the busser who had made the salad. The customer felt the hair and pulled and pulled it out from deep in their throat. In the end the hair was about 18" long. GAG
The bun should match the burger. And it should contribute to the overall experience. For instance the Zuni Cafe in San Francisco gets rave reviews except no one likes the bun. Everyone likes a potato roll unless the burger is fully loaded and the bun is overwhelmed. Also preferences are regional and subjective. Perfect buns make perfect burgers, like pairing wine with food.
I've had this burger and am shocked at any compliment it received. Even after a couple of drinks served in a mish mash of glassware this burger felt like a rip off and tasted no better than any dry $6.00 burger.....3/10
There are many versions of a chile relleno burger in New Mexico. The best one is at a place called HUNTER TOM'S burgers & beers in Arroyo Seco which is near Taos.
