I like good grammar, long road trips, renewable energy, and carrying my deceptively heavy camera bag around.

The more I look at those brussels sprouts & bacon the more I want them.

Parmesan pull-aparts... cheese and bread are everything I've ever wanted in life. And I might have to try those brussels sprouts...

Cook the Book: 'The Pot and How to Use It: The Mystery and Romance of the Rice Cooker'

My KitchenAid mixer. It's not even mine, it's my mom's. It's THAT indispensable to me, that I'd list it even though it's not mine!

Cook the Book: 'Good Meat'

I've been trying to eat more local foods & also foods that are in season. And like @Shadowflames, I haven't been able to eat fast food lately either. Grosses me out for the most part.

a Trader Joe's Disappointment

We used to go to TJ's now and again for the more "exotic" items, but as our grocery store options have expanded in the area we don't really go anymore. Except once a year at Christmas to stock up on Peppermint Joe-Joes.

Strawberry shortcake. Yes, from the Bisquick recipe. No, I don't care how lame that might be.

Southern California Must Eats

The shake place billyburg's talking about is the Shake Shack, which is on PCH at Crystal Cove. It's still there - it's now owned by Ruby's, but they do still have the date shakes (plus lots of others). Not much food there, but the shakes are good, and the view is even better. (Only warning: parking can be tight.)

Poll: Would You Eat the KFC Double Down Sandwich?

My friends and I went to KFC for dinner tonight to try this monstrosity. Worst decision ever. My chicken was very, very greasy, and I just couldn't stand the "Colonel's Sauce." I couldn't even finish mine. But we did have a hilariously fun time.

First Drink for a 21-Year-Old?

Apologies for the extended delay in updating (ugh, midterms), but I did end up having a glass of wine with my dinner (a Sauvignon Blanc), which went well with my food (seared tuna), so I really enjoyed it. I also had one of the house cocktails, St Germain, gin, and grapefruit juice (per the recommendations of grapefruit-related drinks). It was sweet, but not sugary sweet, which I loved.

I want to say an extra thank you to everyone here - your suggestions were a great guide on where to begin, and I'm looking forward to (slowly) checking out all the others. Thank you especially for saving me from an evening of girl drinks, and for helping me be able to pick a better drink than my friends, who tried a bit of mine and were instantly jealous.

First Drink for a 21-Year-Old?

Wow, thank you everyone! I especially love hearing all the birthday stories!

Fortunately the place we're going has a full bar, so I have lots of choices - thanks to everyone for helping me narrow them down.

Thanks as well for the safety (and hangover) concerns. I do appreciate it! And I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes (and what I pick!).

Oh, and @veggieout - happy birthday to you, too!!
