Cook the Book: The Southern Italian Table
Mark Bittman's pasta and potatoes. A perfect hearty dish for winter.
Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
My first cookbook was 'Taste' by David Rosengarten. I got it as a gift because someone knew I liked the show. Not many recipes, but the info and writing is top notch.

Cook the Book: 'Bite-Size Desserts'
I love melting moments cookies! So much fat, but so delicious.
Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
I tried Indian food for the first time as a freshman in college. It was my birthday, and I wanted something different, so my dad suggested it. I had the chicken tikka masala, and it was love at first bite!
Cook the Book: 'Mrs. Rowe's Little Book of Southern Pies'
My best success: Last week's gooseberry pie. I had a picture perfect crust with fluted edges for the first time. :-)
Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Lemon Aid
I like mine with raspberries. Yum!
Cook the Book: 'Modern Spice'
I'd love to make good Indian food at home.
Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling
My favorite childhood food memory is having a sleepover and my mom making homemade donuts with cinnamon-sugar in the morning. Heaven!
Cook the Book: ''Wichcraft'
I'd love an upscale tuna melt as well.
Cook the Book: 'Ten'
I drove three hours round trip on a whim in college (when I had better things to do, like study for finals!) to satisfy my craving for homemade chicken and noodles. Thankfully, they were so good, I didn't mind a bit.
Are America’s Best Croissants in Princeton, New Jersey?
Must go to Princeton NOW! I got spoiled during my college semester in France. There is no better breakfast in my mind than hot tea and a fresh croissant. Heaven on a plate.
Anyone cooking up Mardi Gras?
We're going out for Cajun food at either Yat's in Indianapolis or Zydeco's in Mooresville, IN. I'll also be attempting my first king cake. The boyfriend scored a crown at Burger King, so we're set, I think.

In Videos: Dog Resists Eating Cupcakes, Looks Insane
That poor puppy! Give the dog a cupcake already!
Cook the Book: 'Baking Unplugged'
I spent hours making homemade donuts and when I put them in the oil to fry them, they sank to the bottom and just sat there. They were like hockey pucks! Total disaster.
Mellow Mushroom: An Unlikely Southern Tradition
I love Mellow Mushroom. The jerk chicken-pineapple-banana pepper combo makes a great cold breakfast the next morning. (My usual is the Kosmic Karma, but the bf wanted to try something new.)
Cook the Book: Jamie at Home
Pasta and potatoes from 'How to Cook Everything'
What's your favorite simple sandwich?
Turkey and mayo on white toast. Doesn't look like much, but it's yummy every time.
What's your fast food guilty pleasure?
Arby's potato cakes dipped in horsey sauce. So wrong, but so right.
Eggnog: Way or No Way?
I love it! The highlight of Christmas growing up was when Mom would bring out the 'fancy glasses' full of eggnog. (Yes, this even beat presents and decorating the tree. I was a different kid.) I still have a glass every year in her honor. It's not Christmas until I've had some nog.
Cook the Book: 'The Bon Appétit Fast Easy Fresh Cookbook'
Homemade potato-dill soup
McDonald's Filet-O-Fish: Yea or Nay?
Definitely childhood comfort food for me! It was the only sandwich I'd eat at McDonald's growing up (and still is, actually). When I'm out of the country and homesick, nothing tastes better than fish and fries at the McDos.
Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'
I have made my great grandmother's carrot and zucchini o-shaped loaf for my in-laws for the past three years. I surround the loaf with and put in the middle tons of roasted broccoli - definitely a crowd pleaser, as it goes fantastic with the turkey and mashed potatoes and all the other classic sides!
Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'
Mom's and Grandma's Stuffing!
Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'
Mashed potatos and gravy, just not Thanksgiving without this side.
Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'
Impossible to have just one, so the two would be cornbread dressing and Emmitt Smith's Sweet Potatoe Casserole.
