Not big on New Years. Friends usually come over to watch favourite tv shows on dvd and eat junk food. Tonight will be no exception. I'm making pizzas (one with regular genoa salami, one with spicy, and one with goat cheese/artichoke hearts/sundried tomatoes). Followed up with chips and dip (real sour cream dip from the dairy my partner's dad works at), cocktails, and Hagen Dazs ice cream.

We are having some friends over and are having frozen appetizers :) Thanks to this website it has been on my mind since Ed posted about his fave frozen food. So yesterday my friend and I went to Safeway and basically grabbed one of everything in the frozen food section. I cannot quite remember what all we bought as it is in her freezer, but the gist is mozzarella sticks, potato skins, taquitoes, mini quiches, etc etc etc.

It should be fun, we also felt compelled to get some veggies, so that we can pretend to be slightly healthy tonight :) And to top it all off tons of Champagne.

Happy New Years Everyone :)

This year I'm having a lot of my kid's friends spend the night. So It's going to nachos, sparkling cider and Nintendo Wii and Guitar Hero all night long.

stuffed 'shrooms- first attempt, wish me luck
coconut cake- Ina's, of course. If you haven't made it, do it soon. It is FAB.
mint brownies
chocolate chip cookie bars

Guests are bringing more non-dessert items but we're concentrating on nibbles and not a full blown meal. That's the plan unless we get the predicted 9 inches of snow forecasted to begin this afternoon (it is 11:30 EST on NYE Day and no flakes yet). Then I'll scrap everything but the coconut cake 'cuz I like it and TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday to me!

A very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to all!

NYE:

App: Indian-accented seared shrimp

Main course: Grilled Tandoori lamb (from a local PA farm) served with a curried lentil/chard/sweet potato "stew" type side

Dessert (most likely): Scoop of vanilla topped with crushed hazelnuts, dark chocolate shavings, and a drizzle of Bailey's.

Can't wait to get those kiddies to bed tonight!

Not sure where the Indian theme came from, just sort of happened organically.
