We made this tonight, actually doubled the batch to a whole pound of pasta for impromptu dinner guests. It was a total hit! I followed the directions to a T process-wise but was only a little lighter on the butter and olive oil due to doubling. Bottom line- I will definitely make it again! Thanks Kenji for another amazing recipe.
Pasta San Danielle. Had it on our honeymoon in Italy and have been trying to recreate it ever since. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh man, this series. Congrats on your opening, Tyson!
Peanut butter on pretzels
Mashed potatoes, for sure.
We definitely have gyro omelets in Denver, too! One spot near my first apartment here takes it a step further: a breakfast burrito (gyro meat, egg, cheese in a tortilla) smothered in green chile with a side of home fries. If that does not bust your hangover, it will certainly send you back to bed until said hangover is gone.
Proud to be from Troy, NY, home of patriotic icon Uncle Ham
My dad is either a sausage guy, or "that guy" with a bacon-double-cheeseburger order every now and then. He's nuts! But of course, I love him.
Hot pan, salt and pepper, finished with some compound butter and served with some garlic mashed potatoes. We stay in and cook a steak dinner for every Valentine's Day, so this is particularly fitting. Thanks guys!
Frank's Red Hot. Does that count?
I'm making a few garbage breads for the party we're attending, does that count? Go Broncos!
Get real about menu planning!
Italian sausage, for sure!
bacon fat, for sure. Thanks SE and La Quercia!
I'd make my fiance throw out his shitty Cuisinart analog thermometer. Does that count? ;) Thanks Serious Eats!
Breadcrumbs toasted in bacon fat... and then more bacon and some scallions.
I'd like to add Odell's Fernet aged Porter to the list of dessert beer pairings. We had it at a dinner party a few weeks back with a chocolate-based dessert and it was one of the best suited beers for coursing I've had in recent memory. Thanks for the list of ideas!
Does sausage and cheese still count? Perennial favorite
Your suspicions are somewhat correct- Almanac's beers are some of the ones my fiance (a brewer here in Denver) and I are still talking about after the festival. Cheers!
@Cirilism Hattie's in Saratoga is a good spot for Fried Chicken! I second a stop at Oscar's too. Check out Fussy Little Blog or Tablehopping (from the Times Union) for other recommendations, they do a good job of upstate coverage.
Aw man, this is making me homesick! We used to go to Charlie's after school all the time. I think you guys have already written up Famous Lunch and Gus' but those are two other standout spots for these little guys.
Solid "Don't yuck my yum!" reference
General Tso's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, Food Coma.
Yeah, it's always pizza, except when it's Cape Cod potato chips. And sometimes Birthday Cake Oreos.
Has no one mentioned Frank's redhot? That is the only hot sauce to use for pizza! Maybe some cholula or tabasco in moments of desperation...
