No, you can not send it to a friend; yes, it must be kept refrigerated.

No, you can not boiing water can this. For canning it, you'd have to use a pressure canner. USDA safe canning guidelines do not provide for any other method to safely can meat or anything containing meat (cooked or raw), except for pressure canning.

Valentine's Day Special: Dunkin's New Cocoa Yeast Donuts

While the regular glazed Krispy Kremes will always have a place in my heart, there's only one in my area, and it's on the other end of the county, an hour away.

Some of us had a doughnut-tasting of the new flavors at Dunkin' Donuts, yesterday, and agreed that there is no such thing as "overly chocolate". That's an oxymoron. :-) While the chocolate yeast doughnut did, indeed, remind me of a decent chocolate cake, we all fell in love with the other flavors.

If my husband presented me with a box of these for V-Day, along with perhaps another small, more permanent, token of his affection, I would be more than delighted. :-))

Are Pizza Hacks Really Necessary?

The whole wheat no-knead dough (cold rise) I used for the olive oil pizza pictured earlier today (Tues. 6/23) in this space, was not "unhandleable", nor exceedingly wet. I preheated my oven to 550º and baked it directly on the stone. I got some nice char and crunch. I'm apparently not enough of an afficianado to tell if it was "leopard-spotted." But it was crunchy and delicious.

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Cake Wrecks'

Then there was the "quick" apple cake recipe I tried to make for our pre-fast Yom Kippur meal: It never cooked through and only rose on one side of the 9" round cake pan, ending up looking like a brown ski slope. Hubs passed by and asked "What's that?" "Failure, dear." "Oh, okay."
