Where To Eat Out On Thanksgiving In New York: The Restaurants
@NY: Non - foodie friendly? This site is not exclusively for foodie type places or meals. And cooking at home is not an option for me, it is too small and I wanted my few family members and I to meet in a location that isn't a 2-3 hour travel. I will not go into more detail - but cooking at home for either of us is not an option.
Where To Eat Out On Thanksgiving In New York: The Restaurants
Hey SE, we need some recession, non-foodie friendly options here. Please.
Where To Eat Out On Thanksgiving In New York: The Restaurants
That's it? No restaurants that are more down home and less inexpensive?

Should Bagel Shops Charge For Toasting?
no charge for toasting. it's a rip off plain and simple.
What's the Secret to Great Fried Chicken?
I like Popeye's, when they do it right. The one store that cooked it right consistently closed down. Very upsetting as the one in my neighborhood sucks.

Did the Internet Kill 'Gourmet' Magazine?
Don't discount what Kimball said. It not only applies to the demise of Gourmet Magazine, but to the news/journalism in general.
Meh!
@firni: you're right. I also have to keep in mind who I take recommendations from. If I know this person is normally dramatic then I can guarantee that their review is a little over the top.
Dallas BBQ: Boldly Going Where No Other Food Writer Has Gone Before
When I go to Dallas I only order the crispy chicken wings, the corn and the cornbread and for drinks the the regular pina colada. I can't believe you thought the fries were better than Shake Shacks. The ones at Dallas get cold and hard pretty fast and so does the rice.
@pingarino: never in a million years would I call Dallas the filthiest restaurant in NYC. That mess you see on the tables are people who enjoyed their food and their time. The plates are big, the servings are big and people share from each others plate. In my experience, the bus boys at this restaurant clean up pretty fast and they also sweep before anyone is seated.
And I saw someone else call this a hole in the wall. Say what? Yes a hole in the wall with giant plasma tv's, clean bathrooms and great big windows so that you can people watch. It's not a fancy place, but it is pleasant and spacious.
Meh!
@Italian: thanks, I didn't know about that quiz and I had actually planned on visiting Murray's this Friday.
Meh!
@Silvia, once I finish this cheese, I'm going to try the Fog.
@italian: I'm trying to open my world and that includes trying things I may not have had interest in before. Prior to this site, I never ever stepped into the cheese section of any store - well I did hit the Kraft cheese section-and now the cheese section fascinates me.
@squeeze: I thought about that, but the word looked better with an explanation point (yes, I know, weird.)
In any case, I'm still open to suggestions.

Hipsters Like Coconuts, Says the NYT
@Gargupie: Eat it. I am of the school that it's not fat that makes you fat, it's all the sugar and white carbs that are glopped on it. Have it along with the meat, it's yummy.
Hipsters Like Coconuts, Says the NYT
My goodness, these guys are soooooo late. This is quite popular in the Caribbean and has been for like forever. If you go to the heavily Caribbean parts of brooklyn you will guys with machetes chopping them open and you will also see sugar cane lined up against a building. When will that catch on? in 2 years?
Dinner Tonight: Fennel-Dusted Chicken with Brown Butter and Capers
Are all capers equal?
La Quercia Prosciutto - Where to buy?
I went to the Fairway on 74th and I did not see it. What section did you see it in? I checked where they keep the other prosciutto and didn't see it. Is it at the meat counter or something?
La Quercia Prosciutto - Where to buy?
@Pooch: I'll try, but the places I checked were listed on their website.
La Quercia Prosciutto - Where to buy?
I know you can get in on their website. I want to know which stores in NYC carries it.
Opening Soon: The Meat Hook at Brooklyn Kitchen
QueenAlli: The Meathook will be getting its meat from places like Fleisher's butcher shop in upstate NY. Fleisher's, in turn, has a commitment to only using well-treated, pasture-raised animals:
http://www.fleishers.com/meats-animals.htm
In addition to Fleisher's, the Meathook is also using other similarly-minded sources. I'm sure that once they've settled into their new home at the Brooklyn Kitchen Labs, you'll be able to learn more about that.
