What Foods Are Banned from Your Office?

At my last job, my employer told one employee that she couldn't bring in her Indian frozen meal. I thought it smelled really good, but he hated it. I also think it was because he didn't like her. There was another girl who used to bring in this Asian fish dish and OMG! did it stink. It had no sauce, it was just long and white and stank to high heaven - he never said a word to her. Another guy used to bring in what he called taquitos and they also smelled realllllyyyy bad - the boss never said a word to him either. I wasn't the only that noticed the smells either. And my boss, the hypocrite, would open cans of tuna and eat it right out of the can - gag! Myself, another employee I called me out on my egg which I tried to eat before the office filled up. I also avoided warming up my salmon too much.

As for oranges. Peel them before bringing them to the office. It is the peel that turns people off. And when its a hot or funky room or a hot and funky room - its really really ugh!

Dos Toros Taqueria: Mission-Style Burritos, As Good as California's?

These "food fights" are just a little stupid. I won't be going to California any time soon and could care less if what we have here is real Mexican or not. If it tastes good, I'm in.

Guy Fieri on the view.

@Kitchenista: do you see yourself in those women? what a nasty comment.

Where To Eat Out On Thanksgiving In New York: The Restaurants

@NY: Non - foodie friendly? This site is not exclusively for foodie type places or meals. And cooking at home is not an option for me, it is too small and I wanted my few family members and I to meet in a location that isn't a 2-3 hour travel. I will not go into more detail - but cooking at home for either of us is not an option.

Should Bagel Shops Charge For Toasting?

no charge for toasting. it's a rip off plain and simple.

I see a lot of reviews on here from SE bloggers and its readers. Some of them include descriptions like heavenly!, unbelievable! like nothing else! etc. You get the idea.

While some are pretty reliable, there are times when you just don't feel the same enthusiasm once you yourself have tried the product leading to a simple ......"Meh! it's ok. - nothing special."

Today I purchased Cypress Grove's Truffle Tremor at Fairway and it was just...Meh! Unless I'm not eating it right :), I just didn't find anything special about it. I got a small section for less than $5.00 and it's goat cheese (which I like) so I don't regret my purchase, but still....

Anyone felt that way about a recommendation from here or anywhere?

And yes I get that people's taste differ.

La Quercia Prosciutto - Where to buy?

This has probably been discussed before but I'm fairly new and need your help. Please, in your opinion, what are the Absolute Best items at Union Square. Please be sure to include goat cheese.

Better Place To Buy Bok Choy

I love bok choy and would like it to be a regular part of my meal plans. I have always purchased it at Whole Foods but this year the selection has been horrible. I would pull one out and the leaves are all limp and looks like a bug has been chomping on it. I wrote a complaint about this but they still look horrible.

Is there a good/bad time to buy bok choy? are there better selections in Chinatown?

any links to yummy recipes?

Great Eats For Kids - Need Recs, Please

My sister and her three kids are coming for a visit and we will be spending a lot of time in Manhattan. Of course 95% of the activities will be geared towards the kids and so will the places we have to eat.

Recommendations please for inexpensive (more on the side of cheap), kid friendly (we could sit down) places to eat other than McDonald's. Her kids like veggies and are all under the age of 10 (2 girls, one boy). Manhattan only, thanks

Buying Eggs From The Greenmarket

I go to the green market in Union Square, nyc. I have been wanting to buy some eggs but I am afraid to because the ones I see are sitting on the counter in the warm sun - are these safe to buy?

I've bought eggs from there before but it was in the dead of winter.

Also, if you go to this market, can you tell me who has the best eggs?
