I have the kind of paper towel holder that sits on the counter with a dowel at the edge. That's where I put my wedding ring when I cook.

Julia Child taught me to cook - literally. My mother, a non-cook, used to watch Julia on PBS because she thought she was funny. That's why I started watching, too. Then she lured me in and taught me via black and white TV to care about food. Edna Lewis would be a close second. She was a very gentle soul.

Are there any foods you're ashamed to love?

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and not prepared according to the package directions. Boil the macaroni and add about half a stick of butter (reall butter). Then add the powdered cheese stuff. Then add only enough milk to make the mac and cheese creamy but not runny. Can you tell I've perfected this method? Then eat the entire - yes, the entire - pot.
