Video: Squirrel Gets Head Stuck in Yogurt Cup

I sincerely hope whoever taped this, did in fact help that poor squirrel. Imagine how terrified he must have been.

REMEMBER cut up those six pack rings before you throw them away and do the same with the yogurt containers. If you can't do it right then, then take them home and do it there. It takes less than a minute to cut up the rings and slice yogurt containers.

We're not the only animals that share this planet, we just act like we are.

The Organic Milk Business Has Gone Bad: Are You Buying Less Organic Milk?

For one summer, when I was a child, I drank milk like most people drink coffee or water. Never drank a glass of the stuff after that. Whenever I would try, my stomach wanted to throw it back up. So I finally quit. Good thing my mother didn't insist. I now drink organic soy 'milk' but only if it's chocolate. Don't know why milk bothers me, since other dairy products don't, just milk.

I feel for any small/family farmers today. They don't stand a chance against 'agrifarms', which are driving out the local guy.

PS: Those dry cake 'doughnuts from a local gourmet food shop......something was very wrong with them. REAL fried cakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The very best eating every.

"Did I have a traumatic doughnut experience as a child? (Actually, I sort of did; my early doughnut memories involve unappealingly dense, dry cake doughnuts from a local gourmet food shop.)"
If the writer of this article is a chef, cook or any kind of foodie, they should know that the above mentioned are FRIED CAKES NOT doughnuts. They are made with a cake type batter and deep fried. Hence the term 'fried cakes'. Doughnuts are made from a yeast batter and raised. Hence they are called 'doughnuts'. The terms are NOT interchangeable as they are different things.

Healthy & Delicious: Avocado Chicken Salad

I too love Miracle Whip!! As a kid we used to make bologna and Miracle Whip sandwiches. A friends little brother used to fix Miracle Whip and pepper sandwiches. Mayo, either store bought or homemade, does have a 'greasy' taste to it. Miracle Whip forever!!!

OK...the battle lines have been drawn. Not one more bad word about Miracle Whip, ok? I grew up on a farm and Miracle Whip was the dressing of choice because it didn't require refrigeration and I love it with a passion second only to that for my wife. Barely.

Spread some on a Saltine cracker, sprinkle fresh ground pepper over it....delicious. Seriously, it took me forever to appreciate mayo and still find it "greasy" tasting. Miracle Whip is a gift from the gods. :) Bob

A Red Velvet Affair

Red Velvet Cake IS a chocolate cake with a reddish color. My late grandmother used to make a red velvet cake and it contained NO red food coloring or beet juice or anything like that. Her recipe has been lost and we haven't been able to duplicate it. It was the best red velvet cake I've ever eaten. Not like todays so called red velvet cakes, with their shocking red color. Her's was red AND chocolate. Wish I could find something akin to her recipe.

This is absolutely hysterical. The people getting so "sad" about this need some perspective: it's a squirrel, and the guy helped him out.

How can you not see the humor?! My goodness, if this happened to a person it would be funny, but that doesn't mean that you enjoy the suffering. It's haha funny, not I would wish it upon him so that I can watch it, funny.

And oh yeah, we might not be the only animals, but we are the most important. This IS serious EATS right? We eat animals here, don't we?

This is quite the thread here.

But to bring it back to the topic of food (and not Nike), I thought I would suggest a nice site for other chicken recipes, and that is Just Bare Chicken.

It's actually NOT funny. Many animals (skunks especially) die every year from this. Yoplait claimed they were going to redesign their cups several years ago, but it hasn't happened. Boycott yoplait until they change their cup design.

If that squirrel is anything like me, it's trying to lick every last bit of yogurt out of that cup! I usually stick to Oikos yogurt, or TJ's greek yogurt, but if I'm a little broke and I see Yoplait on sale I'll buy some. I'm reminded EVERY TIME how much I hate the shape of those damned cups. They seem to PREVENT you from eating all your yogurt.

The Organic Milk Business Has Gone Bad: Are You Buying Less Organic Milk?

Quality?

Youve got to be kidding!!! This rag will go out of business because it DESERVES to go out of business. Its no different than any other business. If what you got isn't what the public wants, adios...and good riddance.

It would be a good paper if all I wanted was editorials DISGUISED as reporting.

All our dairy is organic, I wouldn't have anything else in the house. If it is not available we do without. I make our yogurt and buttermilk which saves a bit. . I try to purchase Organic Valley exclusively, but when not available resort to other brands. I realize with a large family it is much more expensive and becomes a tough choice. Thirty years ago you were lucky to get organic milk in a health food store. Now all sorts of products are available and it is wonderful to have them. I would hate to see them disappear again. Please support organics and local farmer's markets as much as you can. It really matters! I am living proof of the difference it makes to one's health.

Thanks for reporting this. Our organic milk consumption as decreased due to allergies to casein, but half of the family still consumes milk & butter. I buy Organic Valley almost exclusively, the Safeway brand (and many others) do not have the same ethics in my opinion. There are so many loop holes in the system as to what substitutions can be made if organic feed becomes to expensive. Besides I like to support the littler guy.

For our family it is more responsible and better for us to purchase organic. I will continue to do so. My husband always says "you can pay for better food now or the doctor later."

I second the sentiment that real reporting is needed to keep us on our toes and aware of the issues that effect us. I'm a voracious reader and major foodie, and I was amazed how little I knew about the problems facing the dairy industry until just this last week. The issues facing the dairy industry are so dire everyone needs to be aware of the effects and what individuals can do to help.

Here is some research I did and made available at Foodwoolf.com concerning what consumers can do to support the struggling dairy farmers.

The recipe on cookpad.com uses tapioca starch..so i guess that's what's making it nice and chewy?
I love MisoDo!!! I even have the little mascot as my desktop background..hehe...
If you want a Pon de Ring fix in NY, you can always try the mochi donuts at Zaiya, similar texture...not as great..but it's good enough..

these are obviously FRIED CAKES WITH A HOLE (as most people call them). any type of foodie or any type of person really would realize that donuts are a myth. come on, serious eats; i don't go to science blogs to read about bigfoot and ghosts. stick to what's real.

Healthy & Delicious: Avocado Chicken Salad

I made this yesterday for a work potluck lunch, and it was a big hit! I used leftover rotisserie chicken and subbed lemon juice for the lime juice based on personal preference and parsley and basil for the cilantro. Great combination of flavors. This would also be great for a picnic.

I agree with everyone who prefers the cooked frosting. That's original to the cake. Here's my favorite recipe, if anyone wants to try it:

FROSTING

1 C milk
5 Tb flour
1 C butter
1 C white ugar
1 tsp vanilla

Boil together milk and flour until thickened. Let stand until cool. Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add milk and flour mix and beat very well. (The longer you beat it the better it gets.)
