Win a Free Organic D'Artagnan Turkey

Definitely the turkey! (Oh, and the mashed potatoes, gravy, brussels sprouts, etc., etc.) I just ate, and the recipes still have me salivating!

Cook the Book: 'The Frankies Spuntino Kitchen Companion & Cooking Manual'

Well, this is sort of like having to select your favorite child, but I have to vote for my homemade pizza, in all its varieties.

Dinner Tonight: Chipped Beef Gravy

Think it must be a Midwest thing. My husband and I both had it when we were growing up in different Midwest states. Once in a long while, we still have it. My mom usually made it on toast or biscuits. My husband puts it on a baked potato. Pretty hearty fare, so it's good on a cold winter day.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

Well, there are so many great pork memories. Many wonderful experiences, too many to count, relating to bacon. Then there are the wonderful pork tenderloin sandwiches that are so popular here in the Midwest (pork tenderloin pounded until it's thin, then breaded and fried and served on buns). Simply a part of my cultural heritage. Farther afield, in Spain, I loved the roast suckling pig with the crusty skin and melt-in-your-mouth meat below. It's hard to find a bad pork experience.

Truth is I never met a cut of steak I didn't like, but since you're pushing for an answer........porterhouse.

The Perfect Fried Egg Sandwich

Some great ideas to try here! The egg sandwich I had as a kid was on soft white bread. The eggs were cooked in lots of butter, and still a little soft so that the yolk would seep into the bread, a little salt, and lots of ketchup on top. I no longer buy white Wonder Bread, but I still occasionally crave this sandwich and put it on whole wheat, instead.

Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'

My first cookbook was a child's version of the Betty Crocker cookbook. It was a birthday gift from my parents. On that particular birthday, we were traveling out of town on a long road trip, so I had plenty of time to read my cookbook and enjoy the photos as we drove.

Where to eat while in Europe?

Roast suckling pig in Spain. Beautiful crispy skin, moist and tender pork flesh. To die for!

Mixed Review: Fiber One Premium Apple Cinnamon Muffin Mix

Thanks for the review. I might want to try these muffins sometime. I eat the regular, healthy Fiber One cereal for breakfast most mornings, but, as has been said here, it's kind of hard to take by itself. I mix it with Cheerios or another tasty cereal, add fruit and have a very healthy start to the day.

Such great ideas! You are all making me hungry! For more casual fare, how about pulled pork sandwiches, served with some great coleslaw?

San Antonio Restaurant Recommendations?

I've been told that the best Mexican restaurant is Mi Tierra. Didn't have time to try it on my short visit there, but several others I've talked to who've been there say it is great. Website is mitierracafe.com

What was the best thing you ate in '08?

Most memorable for me was a lovely piece of grilled ahi tuna caught fresh that day while on a Hawaii trip. Best ahi I've ever had!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

My grandparents lived next door when I was a kid. I'd get up early so I could chat with grandpa as we ate the delicious bacon and eggs he made us before he left for work.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: D'Artagnan Boneless Heritage Ham

I love ham on great rye bread with butter and a good mustard (whatever type suits my craving at the moment). I sometimes enjoy the ham grilled, then topped with some thinly sliced cheese that melts on top and slathered with mustard, also on rye bread.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

What's not to love about any great cut of steak, but I'll vote for a Peter Luger porterhouse! (Excuse my drooling.)
