Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: D'Artagnan Boneless Heritage Ham

There are so many awesome sandwiches possible from a really good ham. The quality of the ham a key ingredient. Given that...then I highly recommend a recipe of Cheesy Garlic Bread using French bread that I found here: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/03/garlic-cheese-bread/

Add some freshly sliced ham and a bit of avocado to make yourself a sandwich that is tantalizing for your taste buds and sure to become one of those comfort foods you think about when it gets cold outside.

Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes during the summer of 2008...I want to become more disciplined with avoiding desserts or at the very least find a way to make them with less sugar.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

Absolutely shameless...I remember that on my honeymoon, our first dinner together. Ordered in, if you know what I mean. That I ordered two BLTs...for me. Yes, my husband sat shaking his head as he ate his steak dinner, wondering why with the entire menu at my disposal that I would order BLTs. What can I tell you...I do love my bacon. Add a slice of avocado, some lettuce and tomato, on a slice of fresh bread and I'm in heaven.

Hey! Don't just sit there...pass the mayo!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Edible Chocolate Box from Charles Chocolates

Ummmmm...there is nothing like a fresh from the oven, hot chocolate brownie served a la mode with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream. And if your feeling decadent add a drizzle of caramel to make what I refer to as my dieter's rebellion.

Definitely Ribeye steak. But I'd take a real good cut of T-Bone if no Ribeye were to be had. After all...beef it what I crave.

My favorite pork-related memory is one of my father teaching me how to prepare and cook a ham. I remember how much attention he paid to scoring the rind and putting the pineapple slices, cherries and cloves. His always looked like those you saw on magazine covers. He is no longer with us but those memories live on.

Not many places here in the Portland area but there is one nearby...

The Pit Stop on Canyon Road in Beaverton, OR. You'll know it by the race car out front and the checkered paint job on the pavement at the front entrance. Great BBQ and even better T-Bones can be had at this sports bar that boasts wall-to-wall TV viewing all relevant sports.

A ham sandwich or any good sandwich is like fine wine. I prefer mine on a fresh Kaiser roll with mayo, Grey Poupon, iceberg lettuce, roma tomato slices, thinly sliced avocado and a slice of Alpine lace.

Cetainly beats your mom's old standby...peanut butter and jelly.

Cornbread stuffing with pecans and bacon makes me starting salivating like Pavlov's dog. Shameful I know but thats one of the things about the holidays...I try to make it a guilt-free period of the year. After all, we have 10 other months to feel guilty and whip ourselves into shape. :)

No contest...I would want to sit down to an afternoon lunch in some open air restaurant and discuss where Oprah sees this country heading. As we would munch on a delicious Chicken Ceasar Salad with fresh shreded Parmesan Cheese I could probe her thoughts and reasoning in supporting Barack Obama as a presidential candidate and if she has had any second thoughts about that decision since the campaign has turned so ugly with all the media spin. And ask her too...what does she think of the way news media and paparazzi conduct their business in reporting the lives of high profile individuals like herself.

Weekend Book Giveaway: The Oxford Companion to Italian Food

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a key ingredient in any Italian dish. But then what is Italian without the freshest Garlic available. Oh...and capers. Must have capers. And a little touch of heaven to finish whatever concoction makes it to the dinner table would have to be parmigiano reggiano. No wonder my family loves me. I love them with really serious eats.
