Weekend Book Giveaway: 'American Cheeses'

I do love Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery in California, but Pennsylvania has some nice cheeses, too - Calkins Creamery near Philly is doing some nice cheese, as is Birchrun Farms.

Sadly, there are no decent barbecue joints in Philadelphia (that I've been able to find anyway). I've had some pretty good barbecue on my trips to Texas, but here in town I have to settle for my own barbecue!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Edible Chocolate Box from Charles Chocolates

I am currently enjoying a chocolate pecan turtle, but if I had to choose any dessert that includes chocolate....it would be tiramisu. Or chocolate chip cannoli.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

If I'm cooking at home, I really like flank steak - I like to butterfly it, layer on some stuff, and roll it to roast. It keeps me amused to come up with new combinations. If I'm out, a good rare porterhouse, please.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

I have a relative who is a pig farmer. One fine day I was at the farm on a slaughter day, and I saw scrapple being made. Let's just say that from that day on, I wouldn't touch scrapple with a ten foot pole. It's not the pig slaughter that got me - it was the scraping of bits from the floor. Years later I got married to a man with a deep love of scrapple. I probably should not have taken him to the farm for scrapple-making day, but he thought it would be so cool to have fresh scrapple. Maybe it's mean to think fondly of the day my husband went off scrapple forever, but it was a funny day!

My Winter fave: lamb potpie. I have a great recipe that calls for making the gravy with Guinness. Nothing warms the heart like that!
