10 DIY Food-Themed Halloween Costumes
Concerning #10, you failed to mention that if you dress up like a burrito and go to Chipotle, you get a free burrito on Hallow'Sween.

If I were to ever be charged for toasting, I would burn such establishment to the ground.

Pizzafreak, could you please elaborate on how the LA laws would hurt a great pizzeria opening?

Yay! Only a six hour drive from LA. I'm down.
Hot Dog of the Week: Depression Dog
I was gonna buy the Slaw Dog print, but I think this is the one I'll be laying down my MONEYS for.

My favorite fast food item is the sometimes-there chicken fajita from the McDonald's dollar menu. It tastes like pure junk.

Who We're Cheesed Off at Now: D.C. Councilman Jim Graham
Jim Graham is a visionary. He has zeroed in on the exact cause behind the culture of inner city violence.
"I said no mushrooms! Let's throw bricks into a school!"
"That pizza made my stomach hurt, let's sell drugs to kids."
"I can't buy a single slice of pizza? My entire evening of crime is ruined. Might as well go to law school...."
Thank you, Jim Graham, for making yourself appear irrelevant with your insane opinions on how to curb violence.
How School Cafeteria Lunches Differ Around the World
xwafflesx, some families cannot afford to pack their kid's lunches. They need the school lunches. DCPS generally stays open during snow days and such because otherwise kids won't get to eat lunch (and maybe breakfast too).

A Premium Burger at 25 Degrees in Hollywood, California
I was a little annoyed eating here that they didn't throw the toppings on the burger and wrapped it in paper. That meant I had to unwrap the burger and finish assembling my burger. I ordered the items... PUT THEM ON THE BURGER!
I thought it was a good burger, not great... nothing like UMAMI which is the Gold Star Winner!

Slaw Dog with Onions and BBQ Sauce. I'd get them from Red Hot Lovers in Ann Arbor, MI. That place is great (although, it changed ownership, so I don't know if it is any good still).
Cook the Book: 'Tacos'
There is a place called Best Fish Tacos here in LA. I had been reading about it for months, all the while going to other places and trying their fish tacos, always being unsatisfied... and then I finally went to Best Fish tacos and it was so good. It was so so so good. In fact, it was the best!
Culver City, Calif.: Surpassing Expectations at Rush Street
I think the Father's Office burger is better than the Rush Street one, and Umami Burger is #1. UMAMI FOREVER!
I've been to Rush Street a couple times and I think this review is too generous in describing not only the quality of the food but also the space. However, I appreciate more reviews of food in my neighborhood. THANKS!
Discovering the Fifth Taste at Umami Burger in Los Angeles
I went there last night with three friends and we all agreed it was incredible. I had the SoCal burger and was completely floored from the first bite. It was really really really really good. From the first bite to the last morsel on my plate. I am not being hyperbolic. The burger is better than that Father's Office burger which is currently the populist king of gourmet burgers in Los Angeles. One friend got the SoCal and agreed, and the other got the 3xPork and insisted I try some, but I was too full.
That being said, I agree with the general feeling about the fries. They taste good, but are more steak fry-ish than burger place fries. It just goes against what I was expecting. Furthermore, while the homemade ketchup provides a good rich tomatoey flavor, I was expecting ketchup and not something as natural. However, the onion rings are nice and light and tasty (which I think are a new addition to the menu, which I took with me to boast).
Overall, considering they've been open for a month, the truly biggest grip I have is their parking lot is too small! I was still thinking about the meal up until I went to sleep and I cannot offer enough praise. Also, above, when I say what I was "expecting," I was not expecting the burger to be so good, but I was very pleasantly surprised. With the fries and ketchup, it was different and made me think about how it was different, rather than the burger which made me think about how AWESOME it was.
In a town where there are so many eating establishments that strive for mediocrity, it is always refreshing when a place attempts to be great and achieves it. I want to bath in umami (if that's possible).

@captpizza Thanks for the good wishes. As far as ruining things goes, I'm taking a different view of it. I've been doing what I don't even like for 30 years just to earn a living. Now it's time to do what I love. All the complications in the world can't take away the feeling I get when everything goes right and I get to watch people dig into a good looking, tasty pie. Go find the picture I think Adam took of me gazing at one of my pies as I pull it out of the oven and head inside to serve it. As long as I keep focused on getting that result, the other stuff that gets thrown in front of me will be worth putting up with. And now I get the added pleasure of putting a place together for people to come and enjoy. Through my interviews, I have already met a small army of people from North Brooklyn who I can sense have a real excitement about what we'll hopefully create for everyone to enjoy. And all the red tape in the world can never take away from all of those kick ass comments just above this one.
Thanks again,
Paulie Gee

Ohboy - we'll finally get to taste those Paulie Gee pizzas, and without going to Joisey...
Hope you can open up before December - Lil and I are going to the west coast for December and January. Either way, Greenpoint Avenue is on our agenda, and we expect to be regulars.

Forget about having an opening night. I think you will need to have an opening week. Book me for 7:00pm a table of 8 for the entire week! Also, the first Friday of every month for the first year!
Congrats, Paulie! I can’t wait!

Yo Paulie Gee, Best of luck in the professional pizza world..From the look of your home pies, this is gonna be a great addition to NY's pizza landscape...when i visit NY, hopefully in the summer, I will be there...
Openings: Paulie Gee's, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Thank you all for your very kind words. Reading all your comments this evening has been a very gratifying experience. I hope I can live up to you expectations. And as far as opening goes, please be patient. We're talkin' NYC and all of the red tape that goes along with it. However, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. As important as the pizza is, the atmosphere I hope to create is equally critical. I have already interviewed a bunch of really great people from North Brooklyn. Although the pies are gonna be mine, the restaurant is gonna be theirs. I know that they are going to make everyone feel very comfortable.
Thanks again,
Paulie Gee
