Cook the Book: 'Jamie's Food Revolution'

Lots of sauteed mushrooms (with butter and garlic) over pasta with jarred sauce. So delicious and comforting!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

Hmmm...my fondest pork memory has to be one morning when my husband had bought some bacon, and it was so delicious we cooked and ate the entire pound for breakfast, and then couldn't summon the energy to feel guilty about it. 'Twas wonderful bacon!

Cook the Book: America's Test Kitchen Family Baking Book

My most horrible cookie disaster happened at about age 15 with what my family (lovingly) have since called Peanut Butter Cow Pies. I basically left out about half the flour, so all we had were these gooey piles of peanutbutter, sugar, and egg on a hot cookie sheet. They were horrible, and I was mortified.

Cook the Book: 'The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook: The New Classics'

I cook from her Everyday Food magazine on a regular basis, and learned to cook going through Living recipes with my mom. My favorite recipe of hers is for rugelach which come near, but do not match, the taste of rugelach from Zabaar's.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

While I can't eat steak right now (pregnant and refuse to eat well-done steak at the moment) my husband can and he LOVES a good porterhouse.

Oh, I love them all, but not much beats a bacon-wrapped filet. Although we typically eat porterhouse at home. Easier to get it done perfectly that way.

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Amateur Gourmet'

My worst cooking disaster was technically a baking disaster. I was making key lime cheesecake bars, which sound delicious but which were HORRIBLE. Of course part of this was probably my fault because I forgot to shake up the key lime juice before adding it to the batter. The other parts that made it horrible include a pretzel crust and pistachio topping. I took a bite when they were ready and didn't like it but thought maybe my husband would still like it as he's less of a picky eater. When he got home he dug right in and then looked shocked. He couldn't decide whether to spit it out and risk offending me or to swallow it and deal with the pain. In the end, I told him it was OK if he didn't like them because I didn't either. We threw out the rest of the pan and vowed never to try that recipe again.
