Banana-Stuffed French Toast from Zaftigs in Brookline, MA

Thank you for the recommendation! I've been dying to find a brunch place with good french toast around JP. I had Zaftig's banana french toast this morning, and it was head and shoulders above anything else I've tried around here :)

Lunch/brunch in Lincoln, MA?

Make sure to get to Walden Pond early! All of the spring rains made the water levels a lot higher than usual, so they've closed off half of the parking lot because the pond area can't accommodate as many visitors.

I agree w/ Saltygal; the DeCordova is one of my favorite picnic places.

Serious Eats in Falmouth, MA and Martha's Vineyard

If you take the ferry into Vineyard Haven, the Net Result has delicious lunch. It's a fish shop with prepared foods -- some classic beach things, like crab rolls, but also sushi and a swordfish burger.

And if you get to the ferry early, stop by Pie In The Sky in WH for a snack! Really good baked stuff. Google map it; it's just a stone's throw from the ferry dock.

I'm jealous of your trip -- have a good time!

Hidden gems of the cereal isle...

Uncle Sam's is the only cereal that keeps me going until lunch. I'll agree w/ Sudenveri that it's somewhat lacking in taste, but I always cut in some fresh fruit, or add raisins or dried cranberries. And it's only something like $2.29 a box at Trader Joe's.

My favorite delicious cereal is Kashi's Strawberry Fields. Good with a dollop of greek yogurt as a snack or dessert.

Bye wisdom teeth

I survived for a couple of days on cream of wheat with milk and a little bit of sugar on top. It's not something I ever eat in real-life, but my stomach was pretty upset and the cream of wheat really soothed it. Plus, I needed something with carbs and protein that would fill me up without too much eating.

Good luck to your boyfriend!

Cooking pasta risotto style???

I've done it with fusili, as well as with orzo. I think that it works a little bit better with orzo than the bigger fusili, but still good!

Providence, Rhode Island: Where to Eat on College Hill

Really? I'm a little disappointed by this post -- I'm a recent Brown grad who has stuck around PVD, and sine graduating I've realized that all of the best food is OFF the Hill. Louis for breakfast?? Are you kidding? What about Olga's, in the jewelry district? It's a local bakery with a great weekend brunch and outdoor seating in their adorable little garden. Or Julian's? Or Nick's on Broadway?? Even Brickway is way overrated, and it's head and shoulders above Louis, unless it's 5:30 am and you absolutely need to have some breakfast food.

And as for date nights, Red Stripe is way too crowded, and definitely not the area's best. If you're going to be in Wayland Square, go to La Laiterie. Or, again, if you're willing to go do a different part of the city, my favorite date night place is Broadway Bistro. Loui Fuller's is also a good place; the interior is beautifully done, and their food's delicious. If you're able to go up another price-point, I second the above suggestion of Chez Pascale, and would also throw in a vote for New Rivers. They're both an easy walk from Thayer St.

Leah, hopefully you're not graduating this month (although, congrats if you are!) -- there's so much more to explore in this city, and even within easy walking distance of school!

Boston Under a 'Boil Order'

Wunami, sorry to hear about your stomach-ache, but it's not from the water -- the kinds of GI diseases that you'll get from Boston's water take at least 5 days to incubate in your system, and Boston didn't even resort to the back-up system until after 6 on Saturday.

I appreciate that people have been taking so many precautions, but it seems to me that the panic is a little overblown -- anyone who has ever gone swimming in Walden Pond, say, or any other pond where people are allowed to swim, has exposed themselves to more bacteria and other waterborne illnesses than the heavily-chlorinated water flowing through Boston's pipes.
