hey everyone - thanks so much for the suggestions! We head out on Saturday and now I'm looking forward to trying some of your recommendations. I'll post when we get back to let you know where we ate and give you some reviews.

I forgot a few more in STX... Cheeseburgers in Paradise (east end) for great burgers, frozen drinks and music, The Deep End (also east end) for great food & fun (crab races, etc.), and my absolute favorite place to be on a Friday night... the Full Moon beach bar in Cane Bay (north shore) - all you can eat peel & eat shrimp - skip the corn but make sure to get two johnny cakes also great music & fun!
For St. Thomas... sorry, but all I can recall is eating lunch at Arby's while sitting at the bar and ordierng a beer with it (only in the VI). I loved it at the time. What a memory.

I lived in St. Croix for 10 months (July 2006 - April 2007), but didn't make it over to St. Thomas. Restaurant suggestions in STX: Villa Morales near Frederiksted (authentic native food, delicious), Rum Runners in downtown Christiansted, Duggan's in the east end (near where I lived), The Cultured Pelican (in the same condo complex where I lived in the east end (Coakley Bay), very good Italian food, great view of Buck Island, great Sunday morning breakfasts - I highly recommend the Pelican Eggs), Tutto Bene in downtown Christiansted (EXCELLENT Italian food, steaks, chops) and last but not least, Breezes... make sure to order a Painkiller... the best on the island.

When we were there last, we didn't make it out of the Ritz Carlton. I think they put something into the frozen drinks to make you uber-lazy - too lazy to leave the "compound."
