Homepage Redesign: We're Listening

Wow, it takes a long time to load.
I'm usually reading you on Google Reader so other than this, I barely knew of anything new.
But--as long as you're renovating--it would be great if I could be choosier in my feed. I don't live in NY so I don't need every NY-centric post, and while I love a good burger, I don't need to get all of those posts either. So if there's an easy way to be choosier with feed content, that would be great.
Good luck with the redesign!

What's The Best Sandwich You've Ever Had?

@Rosanne & @nachoTaco: Yes, without a doubt, it was Koch's. Every sandwich I've ever had there has been my favorite. I don't even like roast beef hoagies in general, but I would order theirs as a last meal. I'm not surprised I'm not the first to mention them here. So many great sandwiches in Philly but Koch's stand up to anywhere.

Cook the Book: Christmas Cornflake Wreaths

DeeDee, I'm with you. I hadn't thought about these in ages but they were one of my mom's favorite things to put on a plate of Christmas cookies. I don't think this was quite her recipe, though (and there were certainly no sesame seeds) but still it made me nostalgic.
FeedMillGirl, no, the cornflakes should not be crushed. They won't hang together in crumbs.
Serious Eats, thanks for posting these and bringing back good memories!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Russ & Daughters Brunch Package

While I have fond memories of a manhole-cover size pancake, I have to go with the classic on this one--bagels with cream cheese and lox. Perfection.

Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'

There is a My Mother's Southern Cooking cookbook by (Paul?) Villas with an awesome cranberry "salad" (jello) that is perfect for Thanksgiving. I always make Pepperidge Farm stuffing (blue bag) with onions and celery sauteed, like mom. Really--it's all good!

Have You Ever Deep Fried a Turkey for Thanksgiving?

I'm with the first three commenters. I had fried turkey at a friend's this summer. First, they fried it at least 50 feet away from the house in a part of the yard that was cleared for the purpose. That, I recommend.
Second, it wasn't all that great. I think the crispy skin people liked it but it felt greasy to me, which is not optimal turkey experience. Glad I tried it but not worth the hype.

Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 92: What Happened to Caffeine-Free Diet Coke?

CFDC is all I can find around here. I need to be off caffeine AND aspartame and for some things, only a coke will do. But I can only find the diet version around here. Here's hoping they keep up with both!
