Weekend Pizza Report: Bacon Pizza at Famous Original Ray's; Bar Tano in Gowanus
Is bacon that rare on New York pizza? I wouldn't call it common in Chicago, but a substantial number of places have it, especially those that focus on thin crust pies. I highly recommend trying some - the saltiness of the bacon goes incredibly well with a good tomato sauce. The only downside of bacon is that it does have a tendency to overwhelm other toppings. But, considering that you are actually eating bacon on pizza, there's hardly any room for complaining.

About MarlaCollinsHusband
Website: http://www.chicagopizzaclub.com
Location: Chicago
About: Chicago correspondent for Slice, 32, recovering lawyer, born, raised and live in Chicago, but had stops in Minnesota, St. Louis, New York and DC in between. I've traveled enough to know that, without question, Chicago is where pizza went to be perfected.
Favorite foods: See below and add anything from Pizzeria Bianco and Babbo.
Last bite on earth: A Lou Malnatti's Lou Pizza, a Kuma Burger, nachos from Nuevo Leon, Harold's Chicken (dark half with barbecue and hot sauce), a Dove Ice Cream Bar from the original Dove Candy Shop (RIP), and a Mexican Coke.

Bianco has perfected the wood-fired pie. But I think what makes his pizzas so special is the quality of the toppings. Every single topping he uses is perfect and most of them are locally grown.
